Question. What size/set up do you guys run for you winter tires? I'm looking into getting a set of steelies and winter wheels to put on during the winter months but want to know what local NYers use. I'm thinking about going with 17" 205/50-17 Blizzaks. Would you anyone recommend going with 17" 235/45-17? Thanks in advance.

theres no need to have winter tires if you live in NYC. its a waste of money. all season conti DWS is all the tire you need.

I have to commute through parts of Long Island and Queens everyday. You're saying that a pair of all season conti DWS will be fine for year round use (even in heavy snow) without sacrificing handling in warmer weather? I like the stock summer tires that came on the WRX so I wanted to keep those for the good weather and just get a set of steelies/winter tires for the snow season.

I agree with Mark, even in North Jersey you really don't need snow tires unless you live on the Rally road or in an isolated area.

When I bought my car last year around this time I told myself "I don't need any winter tires WTF are these ppl talking about?" Man I was wrong. That now storm on December 26 nearly killed me. And I was driving very carefully. I was sliding sideways on the road with summer tires. Nearly hit another car. I bought myself a set of winter wheel/tire combination. And I can't wait for the snow this season.!

Seasonal tires work fine in the snow. Summer tires barely have tread to to grip in snow...
