Did you buy this turbo brand new or used? I don't think john was there in 07, so he may not even know anything regarding previous "business" the shop has done and how business was carried back then.

If you bought a slightly used turbo from the shop in 07, and it looked like a green. They could've been lied to about what it was, didn't care to look into it and just flipped it.
New, off their shelf. There is no stirring the pot. I'm just making people a ware for now.

Half of one side of a story. That's it.

If they're really dicking you over, share the whole story.
How about you take two steps off my jock right now because you appear to be a lurker fanboy with the only two post in this thread being you questioning me.

I will share more as it unfolds that's all you need to know, you're not an active poster in here so why would you care?

Lurker, yes.

Fanboy, no.

I've never been to The Shop nor do I plan to.

I'm not doubting you, I'm looking for information.

How does one become an active poster, but by beginning to post? Tada!

There ya go!

This is why I don't trust repair places/performance shops. effing disgusting. absolutely disgusting.

I do all the work myself, even my own oil changes so I know the damn filter was changed and money was not just pocketed. I hate performance shops, makes it that much worse. Lesson learned, right?

If my engine goes, im buying one from rallispec and having the machine shop deck/assemble the heads to the shortblock and valve lash. And i'll toss it back in myself.

If yer gonna do anything in life right, its gotta be done yourself because this GARBAGE happens.

Not to mention, i'd be pissed to if i just paid $8xx to have my fake green rebuilt.

The two times I didn't have time to do my own work. I make time now. They machined the hotside and compressor side and made it work with their cartridge I believe, it's looks great now and feels good. I mean I just got really sick when I saw the words Knock off on my repair order. That hurt. You could ask some of the members here on your board I spare no expense with stuff.

That makes a lot more sense.

And sucks. A lot.

Any idea what the turbo actually is? I think a fair agreement would be a refund of the price of the "knock off" and the $1400 you paid.

Sketchy situation is sketchy, sucks you waited so long to say something.

The grip is actually comperable, especially with the wider rubber. It handles amazingly stock. Even when the back breaks free a little, it is still very predictable. The ride quality however is about 1000x better.

I'm probably doing a full exhaust and tune later this summer. Should pick up some of that missing torque, as well as more HP. Another former NASIOC member runs low 12's with just an exhaust and pulleys with traps in the 116-117 range. Should be able to eat Stage 2 STI's, but wont hang with the big boy cars.

Just poor business there. I hope everything gets resolved. Despite it being an old turbo, you are clearly in the right.

I went to Greco Tire and Auto on Mill Plain to get mine done a few weeks ago. I had 4 Rotas mounted on tires and 2 were destroyed so I had them swap 2 new Rotas onto the tires of the destroyed wheels, mount them on the car with an alignment for $150 out the door.

Gave both cars their first wash of the year this weekend. Nothing better than a clean fleet!
