This ^^... I had to take literally at least 4 detours to get from downtown bethel to exit 8 because of downed trees and power lines... I'm at my parents in Oxford now since they thankfully still have power... Jersey is definitely pretty bad though, my friend's parents house is 3-5 feet underwater. Everyone doing alright?

A few trees down in my yard, but nothing serious. Lost power early Monday afternoon, and have been running off a generator for a few hours a day. Worked yesterday, and was pretty surprised how many people were out. Our branch in Norwalk had 3' of water in it yesterday morning. Took the better part of the day just to get it somewhat cleaned up. The contamination that must have washed out into the river is amazing to me. People don't seem to understand that you should stop at non-functioning stoplights for safety. I have a feeling it is going to be up to a week before I have power back though, as the area around me is pretty torn up.

I drove up to Redding last night though and was amazed to see the damage. My parents were one of 30 or so houses with power in Redding. It took me over an hour, and I had to take countless detours. Black Rock Turnpike(58) was a war zone, and there were several places completely blocked. I tried to drive up Valley Forge road in Weston and was amazed. The road crew literally cut 6 trees in and quit after they realized there were probably 30+ trees down on the other side. There were several places where I came across scenes like this. Crews that just gave up as the knew they would spend hours trying to clear a small section of road.

Even driving up main roads this morning like Long Ridge Road in Stamford I was barely getting through. Luckily I don't have my truck anymore, as some of the down wires were nearly touching the roof of my car. Might need to figure out a different way home tonight, as it will be crazy at dusk.

Hope everyone is holding up alright!

I am near downtown Bethel and have always had power. During the storm, the power browned a few times and went out for under a minute a few times.

Is 302 a mess? My house is right off 302 and we don't have power yet. I've been at the Holiday Inn on Route 6 since Monday afternoon.

Yea Greg your story pretty much sums up my experience... I'm actually surprised you made it to your parents considering how dense the trees are up there.

Here's a few pics of my situation...

Front yard was littered with downed trees... I couldn't believe none hit the houses...

Driveway I had to hack through with a chainsaw...

And a tree leaning on power lines at the end of the driveway blocking that street exit to the LEFT...

And the street blockage to the RIGHT...

And a couple shots of neighbors property damage...

Damn, that stinks.
I haven't ventured out that way as I haven't had a need to go out 302 towards Newtown. Some downed poles near Bethel Police Dept but they are nearly all back to normal around there. I heard there are no traffic lights (completely missing, not just turned off) next to Caraluzzi.

It was pretty bad when I went down it earlier today, especially the part in Newtown. I had to take a couple detours but they were working on them as I drove by... And pretty sure I saw a tree on top of a house just before the cemetery in bethel, across the street on a hill...

Caraluzzis light is still there...the 4 way light at the intersection of 302, 58, and the schools rd is completely gone... I think they said f*** it we don't need the light cause they put in stop signs...

Wow looks like some major wind damage that thinned out the trees and took out some cars! Glad all you guys are okay and it seems that CT didnt get such a brutal brunt.

Jersey and NYC/Long Island got it the worst, I would say. I'm still without power, but the CL&P website says only 30% of Bethel is out of power now which is down from 57% yesterday so I'm hoping today's the day. Two neighboring streets have had power since yesterday.

If any of you guys are down near Battery Park, the Duracell Power Relief Truck is down there to help those without power/wifi.

Here is an explaination of the program:

Just got power back. 89 hours and it felt a lot longer. I know I sound like a complainer because people had it much worse, but living in a hotel when you're not on vacation sucks.

The adjuster quoted me at $7,300 worth of damage. Mostly new fender, bumpers. paint and suchFun! Either which way, I dropped it off today and I'm pushing a 300c like a BAWCE.

Oh man, got power back Sunday night only to have it taken away on Monday (some idiot got in an accident and his a brand new transformer). Came back last night around 9pm

Hopefully this upcoming storm doesn't hit as hard as everyone is saying its going to

Pretty sure the WRX is away for the year now with the first snow fall coming. Still need to give it the final clean of the year. Feel like I barely drove the poor car. Thinking about selling it come spring time to get more money for a down payment for a house

Greg, do you want help cutting those trees up or are you going to have your landlord handle it?

Also, if you still don't have power and want a place to swing by and clean up, you can always come this way

So we're looking at 2-4 inches of snow tonight and wind gusts approaching 50mph. Nothing like Sandy, but still too soon.

Still another 3 weeks until I get my winter tires on so this should be interesting

Wifey drives the 06 and I have an '11 Sti. I sold my '06 last year... And the guy I sold it too destroyed it. Destroyed is a relative term I guess but he turned this solid black beauty into that stripped nasty shiz.

Shiz is right. Nothing matches those stripes, they're super random. Bronze and black was so much better.
