Apparently when they reboot the servers it takes a long time to cache the large threads.

Wahhh-wahhh

They should at least link the threads... Oh well.

Default Dyno near us in San Antonio?

Hey guys. I looked at the stickey on where to get my car tuned and didnt see anything for a dyno/ tune. Do you guys recommend a place? I have a few mods done now and i think that i am done and want to get a pro tune.

On a side note. I recently installed the AEM CAI and the car feels slower.... I have loaded the maps for the AP that are made for the 93 octane and the AEM CAI.... so i am not sure what is going on. That is the main reason that i want to pro tune.

Road tune. Contact camtuning. I think itz better to do a road tune. Rather than spinning some wheels with a fan infront of the car. I think.

Your options in San Antonio, are non existent in unless you get a tune done over the internet. If you have a Cobb Accessport just go to Austin and have Cobb tune it.

Is there a difference between the tune they will give me, and the one that is already for my car based on the maps online? I dont mind traveling a bit.

Is a road tune going to be able to tell me if there is something wrong in my engine also?

Yes the tune they will give you will be custom to your car.. The tunes on the access port are very conservative.

Tuning it one way or the other will give you an idea of the health of your car. Looking at the numbers it puts out.. but the only real way is to do a compression and leak down test and check the numbers.

I guess what i am saying is this: The only mods that i have on my car are the ones they list for the stage II with 93 octane or greater and the AEM CAI. If i go to cobb in Austin, will they actually tune my car on the road or are they just going to build me a custom map and send me on my merry little way?

Thanks gents!

It depends on his mods. I heard they don't tune anymore or if they still do it would only be stage2. MZM is an option for him, the the ft hood guys frequent them. There is always Cobb plano.

They have a dyno. I think you get 3 runs on it and they will give you a new map. I'd call and make sure they still tune.

There's a place in New Braunfels called performance if I spelled it right. They got a allwheel dyno and might charge 300. Look up there number and call and ask corey.

Definitely woudn't want the ECU locked up. Thanks for that spinx. I am already at stage II so sounds like Austin wouldnt be too much proffit for me.
I am not sure why but it really seems that after putting in the CAI i feel like i have lost power, so i am hoping that the guys at JMS can hook it up. Anyone in here been to them for a tune?

That would be Henderson Performance, and he will not tune Subaru's.. He will let you use the dyno but he won't tune the car..

If you think Cobb can't net you any more power then I don't know why you would go to someone else.. They designed the damn thing.

I know that Robert Red 09 STi went there for his "stage 2" tune customized for his car.. and he made like 297 hp after the tune..

I don't think you understand how conservative the tune on the access port really is.

I would not take my car to JMS.. I don't personally have any experience with them, but I just wouldn't from things I've heard of them.
Cobb has been around Subaru's since before the WRX was in the US.

Also, MZM will not lock the ECU if you have an access port. If you did not and you had them tune the car with ECUTEK they would lock the hell out of it.

What bad things have you heard? When I talked the guys at Cobb Austin last they told me that i should check out JMS. I am not biased either way. I read in the sticky that Cobb Austin does research and development, and that is all that is listed for what they do. I will be giving both places a call and if Cobb will tune my car i will be leaning to them. I just dont wana pay 200 bucks, plus my time up there and back for a map that is similar to one that i can download off their site for the car. I get that the map is uber conservative.

That being said.... thanks for the advice. Ill give Cobb Austin a call and see what they can do for me. Just wondering what Options are here for us

Thanks.

You can try www.camtuning.com I'm not sure how he does Access Port tunes over the internet, but he is the one who originally tuned my car. He's the only other tuner I would go with.
