SCCA Solo Rules 13.3.F...

CamberTire does not meet the requirements. Was that person running??? Shouldn't have. At that, those look like an R-Compound version... in STU?

No offense to Bill (I probably wouldnt have done any better) and Colin is in a highly prepped S2000 but you can see why Colin is a national champ, almost no drama in that run even when he turned the wipers on. He maintained so much more speed through a lot of those corners and was able to get on the gas a lot earlier.

none taken..... he is amazing smooth and his car is 'completely' setup... to be 'only' 3 secs down to him with the level of prep I have down, I feel is a feat within itself..

good stuff tho..

The BRZ actually may be legal through the leeway they give local level usage. It isn't legal for National Tour or Pro Solo currently. However, the book allows for the NOC exemptions. Though if you went purely off the NOC given displacement he should run STC. But they figure the car will likely get moved into STR or STX not STC. Since STR doesn't have a NOC allowance that leaves the other STC, STX, STU at the discresion of the local board.

My Co-driver, Bart, and his run on Sun. power seems to be the issue

and it was a Divisional, the governing body that put on the event can Class the BRZ any where they want. it seemed to be competitive in STX..

the rule in question is: Apendix A:
STX:Sedans & Coupes NOC (nonsports-car-based; 4-seat minimum; 3.1L to 5.1L normally aspirated or up to 2.0L forced induction)..Well since the BRZ is Sports Car Based... The rule doesn't distingush what is a Sports Car..

Quote:
APPENDIX A - AUTOMOBILE CLASSES
It is the intention of SCCA® to class all essentially identical vehicles
from the same manufacturer (which differ only cosmetically or in nominal
marquee designation) in the same class. If a version is omitted from
the class listing, and is otherwise eligible for the category, then its classification
will be the same as the equivalent car which is listed.
All unclassified cars will compete in Super Stock (SS) until classified by
the SEB, unless covered by a “catch-all” description. To use the catchalls
at the end of the specific car classes in Appendix A, start from Super
Stock (SS) and work down the classes until a class is found. Such
unclassified cars will not be eligible for Solo® National Tours or
the Solo® National Championships. Members should look for a
Tech Bulletin in an early current-year issue of the official SCCA®
publication (Fastrack® News) for details or contact the National
office.
See the following page for vehicles which are excluded from the Stock
category.
For Stock Category vehicles, the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications
shall be used for specific wheel diameter and maximum rim width specifications.
ABBREVIATIONS:
AWD - All-wheel drive
FWD - Front wheel drive
IRS - Independent rear suspension
NOC - Not otherwise classified
N/A - Normally aspirated
RWD - Rear wheel drive
S/C - Supercharged
(n)v - refers to number (n) of valves per cylinder
V(n) - refers to number (n) of cylinders

Cars can be classed wherever the local board says so for non-national events, should they so desire.

CamberTires, not legal in any class.

2nd and 5th? Cool.

2.5 seconds behind Neil? Were you trying to sandbag the results so it goes in STX?

nope.... not at all...We decided to drive it 100% and let it fall. We adjusted on the car for all of Sat runs... and part of Sundays. It was only the last two runs between me and my co-driver did we finally figure out that everything was right with handling. The Drag Race Start on Sunday killed us by a second compared to Neal. thats ok, Pretty happy with the results thus far.

Legal in Prep/Mod.

This was more interesting to me:

4 1 STS 195 Andrew Canak 1991 Mazda Miata Mariner Blue 51.245 50.781 123.370 *0.827 102.027 0.109 0.840
5 1 STC 177 Jason Frank 1989 Civic Si - Redshift Black 50.754 51.475 124.671 *0.820 102.230 0.203 1.043

I'm glad ST and STS were not combined, the top players have been consistently proving Rick Ruth right, especially this year.

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade...I love what you are doing. But i'm not sure why you have never seen this much camber before. My bugeye with Vorshlag camber plates has this much adjustment. My wife's 2011 STi with BC camber plates have .2 degrees less. I have seen many GC's with easlily this much camber.

Dunno what type of suspensions you were using before...but -4.5 isn't unheard of on any subaru with a 245 tire on it.

I think he is noting the range on the plates as being large. From one end of the settings to the other end being such a large difference. At least that is how I read it.

A BRZ of our own. That's what everyone wants.

Maybe we can take one of your pictures, use some Weird Science magic and turn it into the real thing...
