Does anyone ever get rocks lodged in between the rotor and brake pad?

Try driving in reverse if you haven't already. Or just keep driving around until it falls out.

It sounds like metal on metal all the time, not just when I hit the brakes.

It's usually a stone stuck between the backing plate and the rotor. It sucks, it's loud. The thin metal of the backing plate seems to amplify the noise. Driving in reverse works to get the stone out most of the time.
Also, I once had a rock stuck between the brembo caliper and the bbs wheel on my 05 sti. Similar noise, but gouged the inside of the wheel a little bit before I could get to a spot to drive in reverse to get it out. Worst time I had it happen was on my 01 2.5rs, I had to take off my wheel and dislodge the stone by hand. I think I used a long screwdriver. |

I get it all the time, especially breakup time. I just take my wheel off and take a long skinny flathead screwdriver between the pad and rotor and knock them out. Seems to do the trick.
