a muffler muffles the sounds, do you understand the word muffler??

anyways... the stock mufflers are literally 45 lbs...
$75 for less weight, better sound? it's amazing
also.. it's not even that loud until you go WOT
i bet this delete is less loud compared to 90% of honda's with an aftermarket exhaust
I'm fairly positive they are talking about an aftermarket muffler, and if you don't think that they add refinement to the sound then you don't have much experience with cars.

Grey90, I'm with you on that, some people just does not have much experience. Sizing of the mid pipes and muffler takes a part on how exhaust sound wether be volume or tone. The muffler does muffle the sound but it also dictates the tone if it's deeper sound or higher. Lol....

ah.. i thought he was talking about stock mufflers vs muffler delete because of how much he was complaining about going over the decibels.

Have yet to see anything in terms of aftermarket for the exhaust/muffler.

question about backpressure/mpg.

recently did the stack of washers between the mid pipe/muffler. haven't actually calculated my mpg yet. but the computer (obviously I don't always believe the damn thing) has been reading higher than before (L/100km - canada eh) since I did the "mod".
maybe it's just because I'm getting into the skinny pedal more now?

obviously the air isn't being metered beyond the cats - and even then the o2 sensor should only be talking to the maf/map and communicate "yes our air flow matches and we're not rich/lean... we're good to go" so no - i do not have a CEL.

is this where a tune comes in to play? (i've put in a K&N Panel filter in place of stock)
will a muffler delete pipe produce the same results?

i should probably just do an actual comparison between proper and redneck spacing. unless someone already has and can enlighten me?

Yes, but that's because the exhaust is going through a turbo which muffles it to a fair degree.

Stacks of washers or just removing the muffler are both stupid ways of going about it. You will get more carbon monoxide inside the passenger compartment from that, plus the exhaust will accelerate rust on all the parts around the leak.

Get a proper tailpipe made so the exhaust exits the back of the car, not underneath it.

I think there's quite a bit of confusion on what a muffler delete is. There is the unbolted axleback which contains the mufflers
or there's the axleback exhaust made without the mufflers such as the nameless performance muffler delete axleback exhaust

I assumed the OP took off the axleback to see what a muffler delete axleback would sound like. THEN get an actual muffler delete axleback like the NP i mentioned.. I would advise against just unbolting the axleback or using stacks of washers cuz that just sounds ghetto as hell!
Buy my NP axleback

Default 2012 impreza muffler

I recently bought a 2012 impreza 5 door and cant be any happier. I traded in a 2005 wrangler unlimited with 33" tires lift kit etc. I wanted to get a daily driver that got more than 11 mpg and now I'm getting 27.5.
The question I have is that is there anyone that makes a bolt on muffler to give a little better sound. I don't want to get a new exhaust system just a little more rumble. Much appreciated

dill a hole in your muffler. This will get you more rumble and no need to buy anything.

My 4.3L chevy had True Duals (glass packs), 4.0L Ford had no muffler and my 3.3L nissan had a flow master. I was most pleased with my no muffler. The flowmaster sucked the worst

Again, check your local and state laws to find out about mufflers and sound levels- Mark W.

I have no actual input for this thread other than I agree with this, and...

Ok, update time.

I got a turn-down made

The inside sound is a little quieter, now that it doesn't point up at the heat shield. I still need to get an outside video of driving, one of these days.

As far as the delete goes, it was the cheap way, but imho it's not hurting anything except some ego. Ya, I'd like a nice shinny or name brand muffler on there, but right now I really don't care.

this might have been said, but all i saw was the muffler detached from an impreza when watching the video... wouldnt straight pipe be non resonator and no catalytic converter too?

So I'm guessing the 2012 models have unequal headers?

No, only turbo models got unequal length from the factory.

Yeah, I understand that. So where's that slight rumble coming from? (assuming headers are stock)

From what I've read about eul headers on turbos it has uneven heat distribution which is bad for turbos so I don't get why they do that from the factory on the turbos, when eul headers on n/a motors don't really hurt anything.
