I'm always on the look out for a good deal,
I literally don't buy anything until I have researched it for a few days trying to find the best price.

Went to change my rear diff fluid today and found out that it looks really good so I'm going to hold off for a few more thousand miles. How often do you change yours?

Realized that with all this rain and all the puddles I've gone through that my passanger side headlight has a leak causing it to fog up. Time to bake it and re-seal.

i have DEI reflecting tape, and was thinking about doing this. do you have any recorded difference in before/after temperature of the TMIC?

also, guys, what is the part number for the female clips on an 04 STI grille? the part where the physical grill plugs into the body.

It clips directly into the upper radiator bracket thing.

My rear right caliper seized while engaged on a drive home from DC. The piston boot had a puncture and the inside became rusted and it was just a matter of time. I hobbled to an advanced auto parts and changed my caliper core on the side of the street!

I have the DEI silver reflective tape stuff. It made my intercooler even cooler to the touch after hard driving. No before or after with any measuring device though.

butt dyno says no difference and didn't do a before after real dyno. Also put the tape on inside of turbo shield. I bet downpipe wrap and turbo blanket would do more to keep heat out of the engine bay.

ps also did air splitter pipes underneath intercooler.

Damn that is dirty! Glad you removed the CC module, amazing how much space it frees up!

Installed the brakes from a 2nd gen CTS-V on my 1st gen. I chose to go with the pimpy yellow calipers from the Black Diamond edition. To start out with, I'm using OEM V2 rotors that I redrilled (somewhat ugly) and also had the center bore opened out by a machine shop. (Off the top of my head I don't recall the numbers, but the V2 center bore is a couple millimeters smaller than the V1.) The OEM rotors are non-serviceable 2-piece rotors (at least, that's what I would call them, since they're made of two different materials but you can't disassemble them.) I think I've seen that the newer Audis have something similar? Anyway, drilling a new bolt pattern was pretty easy with just a normal electric drill, since the center section is aluminum, but I didn't have the capability to enlarge the center hole.

In the near future I'll be buying a pair of V2 rotor rings from Racing Brake to put on the RB hats that I've already got, but that can wait for now.

A comparison of the calipers:

(Gold STI calipers turn brown, while silver CTS-V calipers turn gold. Weird.)

And the pads:

Caliper installed (and you can sorta see the 2-piece design of the rotors):

And with a 19" wheel installed:

(A couple of other folks have already verified that the 18" Team Dynamics wheels that I use on track will clear the bigger rotors/calipers.)

I need to wash the car so I can get a good profile shot to show off the yellow calipers on the Stealth Grey car.

No real change in feel with just street pads installed, which is as I expected - the brake torque math works out to ~2.5% shift in bias towards the front. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how they do on track. With the much bigger pads (~50% larger) and beefier rotors (355x30mm vs 370x34mm) I think they should hold up better to my apparently abusive braking style.

Finally able to wash it and shine her black parts up. She is looking much better now.

I also put some copper gasket around the smaller leaks on the downpipe, hopefully that will make her a little more quiet.

Going to get some ss screws at home depot and put on a lip within the next hour or so.
