Cool. Ya the oil we took out of the cars was not dark at all and that was with Mobil1. I have an excel spreadsheet for everything to do with the cars so ill just put down to do the next oil change at 4k

I typically go through roughly half a quart between changes, in case that information is helpful.

Put ta intake on her after work and flashed to stage one with the cobb intake, loving life I may be crazy but this thing pulls pretty hard almost as hard as the old bugeye and that thing could scoot

Just do synthetic and 7500 mile changes.

My last change was 7900 miles, and the Blackstone UOA shows absolutely no issues.

People waste so much money on oil changes for no reason.

Did a swap out of my H11 halogen projectors for a set of '07 STi projectors with TSX-R lenses.

Me too. Mine has been like that for quite some time. I always just figured that was common for older turbo cars.

As for people changing their oil every 3000 or so, from my experience, it's a waste of time and money. When I bought my car way back in 2002, I followed the manual and got the first change at 3,750. After that, the oil changes were every 7,500, and I haven't always used synthetic (that stuff was way too expensive while I was in school).

The car still runs great, maybe I've cut it's life short to only 200k, but that is a risk that I've been OK with. I guess that they only way I'll ever know would be to have viscosity test done on the oil that I change out, but that seems a bit ridiculous.

How bad could it be though if I have to add a quart between each time that I change it? That has to be a boost to the overall viscosity

Do you use Rotella T6? My only thought in regards to reading yours is about carbon build-up associated with oil detergent levels. T6 has a pretty decent detergent level, and keeps internals cleaner than other oils with lower detergent levels. Curious if you're pushing that many miles on a non-T6 oil, what the internal carbon situation is looking like.

I've always used either Mobil 1 or Castrol SYNTEC.

The spark plugs didn't look that bad the first time I changed them. I'll try to take some pictures when I change them soon. I'm afraid that's the closest that I'll come to checking out the carbon buildup unless I can take a close look at the valves.

It's not like it is a GDI engine.

Clearly you're doing something right, since you are an original owner I've always been concerned about using Mobil1 5w30 due to studies of Mobil1 5w30 sheering down in the EJ series motor, hence why some suggest 0w40 as a way to combat that sheering. However, you may already be familiar with that line of thought or have a differing opinion, just wanted to share.

I really shouldn't have done this since I'm planning on trading the bugeye in for a 2012/13 in about 2-3 months but I mounted the base for my new GoPro on the front left corner of the roof facing 25-35 degrees to the right. currently on watch but plan to test it out in the dirt right after. can't wait to see how it turns out

Installed mishimoto x-line radiator with stock fans and trimmed upper hose. Tight fit but clears pulleys and fans.

Noticed today that I'm getting much better gas mileage now that I started shifting at 2500 RPMs rather than 3000 lol. Getting MPGs around town that I usually only get on the highway!
