Stripped out the sound deadening material in the trunk with the oscillating tool from harbor freight. The colder temperatures helped tremendously, as it broke apart in chunks and came off the metal rather easily.
Also took some of the black gasket gunk off the doors using the same method. Amazing what near freezing temperatures will do to make that stuff come off in large pieces instead of long, sticky, black tails of junk. Just need to hit it with some "Goof-off" and get all the remaining gunk off the door panels. I'll likely hit the trunk and rear seat area with a wire wheel to clean the surface and prep for welding of holes and things. And I might try and get that seam gunk out of the trunk areas in order to weld things together. I should probably grab the 10-20mm lens and take some shots of the work, eventually. |

I repainted my wheels....kinda. Just the machined lip, because I hate how a machined lip looks with dark wheels. I liked it when I bought them, but now I don't.
![]() Worked better than I thought. ![]() Before and after (after on bottom). The grey isn't the grey I wanted, but it looks better than it did with the stupid machined lip. This is just temporary until I get them powder-coated in the spring. Probably wont last long with all the salt on the roads anyway. Edit: just hit a deer too! Only messed up my drivers side door and 1/4 panel/fender (?) . Super pissed!!!!! Stupid deer ran into the side of my car. I think I may start going deer hunting. Packed up the moving truck and put the car on the car carrier. Practically ripped the front bumper off.
Glad I didn't put the good one on.Just need a few more things put inside the car and we will start our 3700 mile trek across the US, tomorrow. ![]() |

put the car back on jackstands while my dad picked up thep/s pump rebuild kit I ordered from annapolis subaru. Im sure the back one or the lower two seals were the culprit in it leaking onto the block. But since I got 8 gaskets in the rebuild kit, decided might as well replace all of them. Must say a lot of them were stiff due to age.
aged gaskets to the right of the reassembled pump (without back cover that is) ![]() |

Ups delivered for me yesterday too
![]() Got my gear oil in, so the car is driveable. Did some more adjusting to my new coils, almost done. Finished my wheels for now. Got my new wiring kit in and installed it. A world of a difference with these new wires, much higher quality. |
