Default Dear Element

Since you decided to take this public I figured I'ld leave this here after being confronted by multiple people about OUR situation. You purchased a long block from me knowing in full detail why I removed the motor as well as to what was missing from the motor. Had I known this was going to be such an issue I would have taken the time to sell it else where for what it truly was worth not the great deal I gave you. Secondly later on you said that one of the cylinder walls was cracked AFTER it was machined. Yet this was not caught by the person before or after doing the machine work and obviously you guys did not inspect it before sending it out. I tell you I will look into it and also gave you an option with someone to call. Mind you as said before he was on vacation. Miraculously you showed up with a block for $500 bucks and expect me to pay for that in full. No proof of purchase considering this could have been a block pulled from somewhere in your shop it could be deemed as concerning. I could have picked up a running short block for that price. I could have also got case halves for $500 cheaper than what you paid for them. Do you see the concerns when laid out this way? As a shop owner I don't see you just grabbing a random case half out of your stash and saying you payed for it but in the same sense I would not expect a shop owner to be accusing me of "jewing you over". If I used your words correctly. So if you would still like to resolve this issue between us and not everyone else, as well as not randomly show up in the middle of the day at my work place that would be much more appreciated than you telling half the story to people and me being confronted out of no where about it. By all means it would not have been drug out for as long as it has but you and your people keep talking so by all means I can keep dragging it out for as long as you would like. Ball's in your court boss.

Sincerely,
Alex

Sounds like an issue on their end with the quality control.

Why would they expect you to pay for parts to fix it? Did you sell it with some sort of warranty?

I wouldn't say that, I'm sure it was exchange assuming all the parts were good to kind of deal. More on a trust factor kind of thing, I know the guys at Element and Alex personally. I'm sure no ill intentions were of thought with this transaction on Alex's side, but I can't speak for him.

Anyways this whole is blowing out of portion, you guys just to need to talk face to face and be done with it.

We are man, don't bring this crap on the forums

Good Night!!

Sounds like this had been blown out of proportion and made public within the local Subaru community at peoples places of business, perhaps calling into question ones character. As we have a small community and word gets around, and to this point he hasn't been able to resolve it, he posted here as perhaps a last resort/jolt etc to come to a resolution. In essence a "clearing of the air" per se.

It would be deleted because it just doesn't really matter HERE. He's telling, like, six of us dudes that are still hanging around. I'm sure the Element guys still lurk, but that's pretty much what this forum transformed into, is lurking.

To me it's the equivalent of yelling over a crowd full of people who aren't even talking. If this were a few years ago, with AKIC at its prime and posts could get lost in the fray, then sure.

I'm not saying Alex's post doesn't have points, but for AKIC in 2015, it's just a completely dead playing field. So few of us that even post here still are even into modding Subies. Some don't even have AWD performance Subies anymore.

It's not that of a big deal. I'm just sharing a viewpoint.

Wow.

This got real quick. Here's all I'm going to say on the matter, because I have attempted to discuss this in person and was rebuffed months ago.

1) The basic facts presented above are wrong. The cases were never machined, the crack was discovered during cleaning and honing.

2) No one here has ever claimed that it was intentional, we know you wouldn't do that. You couldn't see the crack until the bores were wiped, and once magnafluxed it was easily visible.

3) You did advise me to contact someone else to get cases, which I tried and had no luck. That individual NEVER contacted me back, I couldn't wait anymore.

4) After that you ASKED what I would like to make it right, and never countered until you were confronted in person, after months of ignored calls and texts. Don't forget, you asked what I would like.

5) Yes, we bought another set of cases, and had them inspected before using them... Because we couldn't afford to dick around a customer any longer, we went with the first set that presented itself... and that was $500 we ate for that guy.

6) Yes, we came to see you at work... After you ignored weeks, probably months of calls. You indicated that you didn't think my offer for restitution was fair... That's fine, I would have more respect for someone who would be straight up and say "sorry you bought it as-is" rather than ignore calls or ask what I would like "to make it right".

By the way, it was mentioned to one person who specifically asked about your credibility, not quite "public"...

That crack looks pretty substantial to me and should have been noticed before the machining process took place. Why didn't the machinist notice this and notify the customer?

Cases weren't machined because the crack was discovered during cleaning and prep, thus the case wasn't used, and the seller was notified.
