Wow all of this because an 18 year old lives at home because he is still in high school and spends his hard earned money on his car?
People should seriously grow up and worry about their own problems be it positive or negative things in their life.

WGMG: Traffic - backed up and at a crawl on the Glenn Hwy for who knows what the hell for - Boniface to Brake Light Hill - over 10 miles. To top it all off, the roads are dry enough to run a motorcycle up and down. Who's the idiot that started that mess?

You need to learn to cherish that traffic that saves you from paying ridiculous house payments.

Im guessing 2 people. There was a red Tundra in the ditch near the weigh station. Also as I passed by around 1745, the po po was in the left lane blocking traffic as a tow truck had a rearended sedan on its bed.

Couldn't agree more with you!! I actually left work later than normal and still wound up in the mess. WTF over!!

Saw the Tundra in the median and near Arctic Valley a neon with its hood up in the median.

Agree though, dry roads.. WTF.

This was my view. (Not my video)

If you put it in 1080p, and look closely at the right inboard main gear, you can see that he locked up and was smoking a brake. When they towed it by a few minutes later, you could smell the hot brake.

I'm going to plead ignorant on this one, but why is this plane landing as special as people are making it out to be? Or do I unbeknownst to me know a lot of aviation fanatics? And it's only special to the people that I hang out with (in virtual land).

Anything bigger tham 12500 lbs requires prior coordiation to land at that particular airfield. The 727 weighs near 100000 lbs.

Planes as big as the 727 normally aren't allowed land at merril field, unless it's an emergency. The last time a large plane landed there was when a C-130 landed in 1992. This particular 727 plane was being donated to UAA from FedEx

The longest runway at Merrill Field is 4,000' long. In normal operation, a 727 would require a runway length probably close to double that.

In this instance, this empty and lightly fueled 727 landed in about 2,000', an impressive feat, given that I've seen little Cessnas land longer than that!

Thanks for the knowledge. I read the Wikipedia page on them after I posted. But don't know enough to know what's not normal. The tail section looks pretty cool, and I guess they are loud. That's what I learned from my Wiki skimming.

My old company used to deliver patients to Alaska Regional hospital over on Merrill field. We would usually have to be in a turbine engined aircraft to land there. Getting a King air, A Merlin or Conquest in there was no problem. I can recall getting special clearance to land our lear jets there on a couple of occasions for patients who were deteriorating. Those were pretty hairy as they land at 140 knots so we would need to have a small fuel load to land. Our Citation jet flew much slower and we landed there with it more often. It was always interesting to see the folks come out of the hangers when they heard a jet landing there. They knew something was up.

Yeah, I miss it too, but I know it's not exactly how I remember it back when I lived there. Paul and have ridden from the Flats to town before with our MX bikes on some of the gnarliest trails you could find, but I guess those trails are all overgrown now from not being used, it's a shame. On side not I heard there's a Taco Bell now!
