i don't have the time to drive all the way up to iag. i've been having matt at fortune do all my recent maintenance work lately. i trust him to do the work, but i just wasn't sure he or i would be able to procure all the stuff needed for the service.

Just give IAG a call and get them to send you all the parts needed for it and then I'm sure Matt will take care of you.

Well, looks like I'm set to move in a week, leaving Richmond next Friday, going to be pretty sweet actually already have a bid out on a house so should be in a house within 2 months after moving to PHX. They have a pretty big car seen out here also, and have like 3 race tracks and do auto cross all the time out here. But i might as well say bye now cause I'm going to be out of town all next week and can't make it to the meet this weekend, got some stuff I gotta do with the gf.

Anyone else think it's silly to want to swap my STI scoop for a WRX scoop? I've always though the 04/05 STI scoop was too tall. The 04/05 WRX scoop is pretty much the exact same size as the 02/03 and 06/07 STI scoop. I know the splitter can be modded to fit under the WRX scoop because I did it back when I had my 04.

I was told the STI needed the bigger scoop for airflow. That could be a crock though since 06+ scoops are small. I've got an STI scoop on my wrx though because of the intercooler swap.

^Yeah that's just a bunch of BS especially considering all the other year STIs have smaller scoops and it's not like the 04/05 got some special IC or motor that would require more airflow than previous years.

The most important thing to me is that you have the correct splitter that gets air to the largest amount of IC surface as possible.

Well the 04/05 STi scoop obviously gets more air through it but it causes alot more drag. Its not to aerodynamic, the 06/07's are the correct way to go about it aerodynamicly wise.

i made a splitter to fit my sti tmic and and added the 2nd down plane and made the turbo air hole bigger too.

pop rivets are soooooo cool. used some this last weekend for my new grill.

custom...makes e car experience ...better.

and if you're concerned about air flow to an inter cooler slap on some reflecta gold.

Definitely not worried about air flow. If the smaller scoop is good enough for every other year sti then it's good enough for 04/05.

I really wish I could find a scoop for a 04/05 like this one. I far prefer the flat scoop face that the 02/03 and 06/07 have. I often wonder how hard it would be to take a WRX scoop and modify it to look like that one.

"a lot more drag" you make me laugh sometimes, an extra inch of a sloping scoop isn't enough that you would even notice, or change your quarter mile time. It's aesthetics at that point, plus coefficient of drag is calculated by the cross sectional area of the car multiplied by the speed. Hince why speed limits were low during the gas conservation period in the earlier 90s I believe.

I know. It's probably one of my favorite Subarus I've ever seen. I'm all about a clean simple setup. I'd love to drive one with the reverse stagger wheel setup to see what it's like. that car runs 255/35/18s front and rear but the fronts are 9.5 and the rears are 8.5 rims.

People who have switched to rs hoods from going to fmic have noticed better aerodynamic characteristics and handling.

Drive with the giant 04-05 Sti scoop your hood wants to rip off.

06-07 scoop still wants to rip the hood off.

Think about an umbrella in the wind, a little one just turns inside out and is annoying, a beach umbrella takes of in the wind, takes you with it and then goes tumbling down the beach and takes out three other people.

The larger the surface area to catch air the more force its going to apply to the object it is attached to.

SCIENCE!!!

I think I'm going to try to find a 04/05 WRX scoop to buy for cheap that I can play with.
