I actually live right by jspec, but I'll be in Arrestafield for coffee and cruise back to this side of town.

Fascinating. Wrong and broke? Used right? Some days cars can be frustrating especially when most of us are on a budget.

I'm considering getting a water/meth injection kit for my car. I found a high quality one at a pretty good price.

Thoughts?

Ask your tuner what they're comfortable with. Most systems are over kill. Simpler the better, less for them to go wrong. I run the AEM system last 4yrs no problems.. system comes on with boost levels and really doesn't use as much fluid as you would think.

I don't think I'd cut corners on a meth injection kit. Without a good failsafe that can cut boost or revert to a different map you're screwed if the pump fails or a line gets clogged. I'm not saying it's common but wouldn't you rather spend an extra $500 instead of potentially blowing a motor and being out $3-4k to fix it?

Yep I agree. I'm definitely not going to go cheap if/when I get a meth kit. I've actually been in contact with Dave from Coolingmist this morning, I believe I'm gonna end up buying a kit from him. I'm looking at the one that comes with the Autolearn Failsafe and the CMGS controller/gauge, but with no tank. I'll probably use the intercooler spray tank, until I can find a Spec C water tank for cheap.

Edit: Forgot to mention, the only thing really throwing a wrench in my decision is the fact that my tuner, Agile Auto, really prefers the high-end Aquamist kits. But those are crazy expensive.

^What would you call expensive. I'm pretty sure the really really good Aquamist kits are no more than $1000, maybe even less.

I'm not really understanding your want for a meth injection kit.

Most people who want more than Sti power go with a 20g or something larger.

I feel that meth is something reserved for those who have to run it because of crazy high HP set ups.

Please enlighten me.

Meth injection is a cheap way of basically running around 110 octane all the time. Lets the tuner safely get a lot more aggressive with boost and timing. Major cooling benefits too as it drops the temps quite a bit.

Years ago a buddy of mine made around 335whp/400wtq on his 04 STI with vf39 using pump + meth. The way the torque hit was insane.

It will basically accomplish the same things you get with e85 except no worries about it not being available. Just have to make sure the meth tank is always full. You really only use the meth once you start getting into higher boost. A failsafe is really important though because the meth acts as some of your fuel so without it afr's will be dangerously lean.

^^^^This pretty much sums up why I've been considering it. I really like that meth makes it practically impossible for the engine to ever knock, and the evaporating water basically steams cleans the engine. Plus its a relatively cheap 20-40hp/tq.....so its like a win-win-win, amirite?

That's exactly what I always thought. Then one day I saw sitting around bored and read the water/meth injection FAQ. I've been somewhat enamored with the idea since.

on second hand does anyone know who can look at my clutch and shifter linkage. cuz i called the place and they said they sent me another tranny but its got lower miles and was road tested right before they took it out and shipped it. they say that it could be the linkage or the shifter fork or something in that nature. its slightly grinds going into third going from 2nd to 3rd. but when i come from a left angle it seems to have very little to no grind at all. anyhelp?

lol, sure why not?

I read thru some of that thread and seems simple, once you buy a good system and have appropriate tune. inconvenient to keep the methanol and water tanks filled??

dunno, mine worked perfect after install...

seems a bad trans = broken gears (that is a very bad noise), bad bearings or synchros are chewed making hard to shift into certain gears. Those are major problems and ar very infrequent on 6 spds.

maybe check thru the trans & driveline forum, search or post?
