dang, good looking amigo! haaaaa, that was a quick answer. I was searching through the suspension threads but couldn't find anything addressing my situation.

another question, i know everyone would say that my car is due based on mileage for new shocks/springs, but I'm just curious, isn't a solid test to push down on the corners of the car and when the shocks are gone there is a lot of bouncing? Because there is little to no bounce when i do this and i feel like it's fairly tight, but I never knew what stock felt like either...

Well if it was a suspension issue, you should notice the vibration at slower speeds too. If it gets worse the faster you go, that is a strong indication of a wheel/tire out of balance. Plus worn suspension components also tend to make noises too. Yes, usually when the struts are bad, they will have a lot of fluid leaking from them. Do not confused this is a little bit of fluid seeping. Also there will be a lot of bouncing as well. Plus irregular wear patterns on the tires will be a sign too.

so if I dont have any leaking or bouncing, but the inner's wore down like crazy in 20k and I somehow managed to get some bulges in them, does that sound like they are done?

i mean 90k does sound like a bit, but my wife's eclipse has the stock suspension n that thing is at like 180k n the handling is tight.

Inners are worn down? Like the inner portion of the tire? If so that is an indication the alignment is out. The bulges in them? Like on the sidewall?

The inner tire wear is an alignment issue and the bulges, do they look like this?

That is a cupped tire and an indication the struts are worn.

Aaaaahhhhhh ha, thanks phil. I always thought a cupped tire had like a bulge all the way around, not just in spots.

Well the sti is still in the shop and when I stopped in today to see what is going on cause I never got a call, he states they are to busy and never even looked at my car, and didn't even know when they can even look at it. Looks like it doesn't apply for the lemon law either, looks like 3 years is the time period, not the length of your warranty like I hoped. But I have to check the Subaru manuals in my sti to be sure. Subaru also said they will not increase the warranty period on my car also even though this is the third time my motor blew.

That sucks man. Sounds like the typical we are f'n tired of dealing with you and we will get to it when we can response. They are not that busy and never have. You are a third time comeback and should be priority!!

Yeah i mentioned in the other thread you're vehicle wouldn't qualify. IIRC, it has to be in for at least 3 repair attempts within the first 18 months of ownership or out of service over 30 days.

finally decided to fix my front lip, several cracked areas and pieces hanging on. bondoed and sanded ($15). bought true color color match rattle can paint along with plastic adhesion promoter/primer/color/clear coat ($70).

paint color is a 100% match. clear coat is gloss, but high gloss required. and with paint can now see my crap sanding job.

soooo i'll wet sand and repaint. and use high gloss. and front will look awesome. also picked up 4 door cards and a backseat for $120, going black interior to match my (painted) black rug. will prob source front seats from jspec.

i went with tokico spec d struts...decent coil overs $ much for me.

sorry to hear about the motor probs...if you have spend money out of your own pocket what would you do different?

to bad it is past that time period, cause i didn't have it for 30 days the first 2 times they had it, they had it for 2 weeks now this time already and never looked at it.

Would replace more parts, not just the pistons or shortblock, or would have sent it to IAG and make sure it was done right

You get yours from a private owner? Thats the best way to go apparantly, dealerships are charging out the ass. I guess they have to though.

I would keep calling SOA and Moore. Make numerous phone calls a day to let them know you mean business.

I can never get ahold of the person that is dealing with my case at Subaru. I'm going to highly suggest sending it to Pence Subaru if she ever calls me back. This hold thing is pissing me off though, motor blew 3 times in a few months, they must not know what they are doing at Moore, and some how that is my fault?

Put my summer Wheels/Tires back on. The right front winter wheel was giving me trouble while I was trying to take it off. It took 140psi to get 4 lugs off and the last one I had to get my dad to break loose with the torque wrench while I held the brake. Finally got it off and the stud that the last lug came off of was destroyed and a couple of the others weren't to good. It must have happened when I put them on I guess.

But I called Subaru of richmond and they happened to have 4 studs in stock so I picked them up and installed them. Wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Their was 1 stud that was ok but the rest were crap so I only needed 4.
