an idea....
search warranty issues and soa problems and Factory 2.5 liter powertrain threads. maybe post a help wanted under the motor thread.

has to be somebody out there who had similar problems and figured out a solution.

How long ago was this? That definitely sounds like another Peter Young encounter, but he left there in Nov 2010. When I worked at Pence and sometime during late 2009, I was helping a guy with his 07 STI and he basically was told by Moore that "since his car has stickers, the warranty is void"
I encountered this issue not even 3 weeks ago, I made a scene and they tried to charge me saying it was my fault so I told them to go **** themselves hit the 2-step and launched it out the bay, which i now regret

Oh ok, so you never got to experience Peter then. Be thankful.

Why do you now regret that?

Have them give you the cash it costs to get a new oem shortblock from them and buy a built one. Those cheap guys wont give you a longblock thats for damn sure.

They suppose to have gave me a whole new longblock last time. I think they are just worthless and installed it wrong or still worthless and didn't check other things. Bet my ecu is shot or something.

You are not going to get a longblock. Subaru is very selective on who they give longblocks too and if they even have any available. I have seen 3 vehicles(09 Forester XT and 2 09 WRX's) get a longblock and that still involved swapping a few parts over.

Went to look at the STi today....i have a hole in my piston....not the ringland...the piston. There is a 1/4" gap between the top of the piston and the cylinder wall, looks like it melted. Asked them what could have caused this, he said "timing", then i ask didn't y'all check this? he claims they come pre-timed and all they have to do is slap it in. And then he says that my new motor got in today and should have it together by next week since it comes set up. So then i ask if your not going to check this one also, wouldn't it be bound to blow my piston again? are you just going to keep replacing my motors till yall really figure out what is wrong? Then he looked really confused, "well i don't know what it could be then" then asks.... "you didn't tune it did you" .... was about to go off on him, you ****ing serious man? its a brand new ****ing motor, if i were going to tune my car, it would be after i broke it in. 500 miles isn't broken in. Told him to look at the motor you can tell i never touched it. "oh i thought you didn't mod it" bout to say why did you ****ing ask then.

Can i ask why you want catless, you get a bit more performance but may have troubles with inspection and the car may even have a bit of a smell to it. There isn't much of a reason not to run a hi-flow catted downpipe IMHO. What year and type of Subaru I'll be doing a parts install in a couple weeks...

i understand that the difference in performance is negligible. i've had my parts on and off for going on 10 years come august. if i had the money to buy a catted downpipe the first time, i would have. i don't buy many parts new. i'm always keeping my eyes open for a used one. i had my chance a couple of months ago and missed out. believe me, i'd rather not crawl under the car if i have to, to keep switching them out.

Ballin on a budget I heard that. I know a few guys who will probably pass you without a car anyway for next time.

They had a Sti on the lot when I was searching for my Sti they told me there was no wiggle room on the price and they looked on the computer telling me moore cadillac had no Sti's, i went to moore they had 4, and they took $2900 off the price which was already lower than Pence's I'll never deal with those liars.
