Default CitroŽn DS4 Racing concept unveiled

Quote:
CitroŽn will reveal plans at Geneva to extend its hot Racing performance brand to the DS4 five-door hatch with a CitroŽn DS4 Racing concept powered by a 256bhp 1.6 turbo, its most powerful-ever road engine.

Officially the DS4 Racing will be called a Ďconceptí, although the model is strongly-tipped to go into production, possibly early next year, to take on the Ford Focus ST and Renaultsport Megane.

See official images of the CitroŽn DS4 Racing concept
The heavily-boosted 1.6-litre turbo engine has been tuned by CitroŽn Racing and its 256bhp output is around 50bhp more than the Mini Countryman JCW and 60bhp more than the DS3 Racing, which both use the same PSA/BMW co-developed 1.6-litre four.

Despite the storming specific power output of 160bhp per litre, CitroŽn claims an impressive 155g/km of CO2. As yet, performance and economy figures are undisclosed, but if the production car shares the same output, a sub-six second 0-60 and 155mph limited top speed ought to be achievable.
In line with the Racing theme, the chassis is lowered 35mm and the front and rear tracks extensively widened ó 55mm at the front and 75mm at the rear. Also bigger are the 19in wheels shod with 235/40 rubber.

Thereís also a special paint job for the concept, featuring matt grey paint and a two-tone roof and wheels.

Subaru's next-gen STI has some stiff competition (but not in the US... Damn you Citroen...)

This is what I would love to see from Subaru - small, 5-door, awd, 1.6 liter with about 260 hp. Utility, lightweight, compact = perfect for me

We'll just have to wait and see...

Edit: oh, and that citroen nose always reminds me of Lando's co-pilot on the Falcon in Return of the Jedi...

Props on the excellent star wars reference!

And it sucks that the US never gets these good cars . . . perhaps other automakers will learn from Ford, and start selling the Euro versions of their cars in the US, that has worked well for Ford so far.

Along with the DS3, Astra VXR, Peugeot 208 GTI, Fiat Punto Abarth, and many other wonderful compact and sub compacts. The US car market is crap for those of us who drool over these things .

The front end on this looks great. It reminds me of a comic book or video game character I saw a while back, just cant remember who.

Citroen and Peugeot may not be available to anyone anywhere soon. Both have financial problems.

That and the Alfa competitor to it show what a 5-door is capable of looking like.

Subaru should take notes. VERY good notes.

That's true. Although I doubt the French government will let PSA (Peugeot+Citroen) go under.
