Well Jeans car is finally sold. Guy came up from Virginia and bought it.

Yesterday evening we went to Liberty Subaru, where jean bought her 06 wrx new back in 2006.

She is now the proud owner of a 2013 SWP Premium WRX sedan. I dont need to say this but of course its a 5spd.

We are picking it up on Monday after its all detailed etc.

We are happy to add the ninth subaru to our family.

We plan to keep the car basically stock for the most part. By the end of the week Ill install a kartboy shortshift, front/rear shifter stay bushing, linkage, clicky kit bushings, tranny crossmember bushings, GroupN PitchStop, tranny mount.

Im sure Ill pick up some diff bushings but the reast we had laying around from her old car.

Then soon after it will go out to get a clear bra on the front end.

After that Jean has a AEM uego wideband, and matching boost gauge. We need to get a SMY pod.

She also has a Invidia Catted downpipe, coated grimmspeed uppipe, and Port and Polished exhaust manifolds.

The power stuff will be a little while. She is just going to enjoy it for a little while first.

I do plan for RCE Blacks, whiteline swaybars, and maybe some nice struts from Odi @ Feal Suspension once we get some miles on the stock struts.

Other then the above we plan to get a KSTech 73mm CAI, a nice TMIC such as a Proccess west etc., and a fuel pump.

Thats prob how the car will be left and just enjoyed. We arent going nutz on this one.

[TE=iceman22;39958930]Any luck with jean selling her car? Or just all tire kickers?[/quote]

What exactly is you definition of stock?

That did sound stock, and neither is the forester that was going to be "stock.

lol your right, I tent to go off the deep in. My Plan is to do some "very basic" mods. To me pretty much all above are the things that will clean up what I hate when driving customers cars.

Everything is rather cheap to obtain, easy and cheap to install, and wont dramatically void warranty and wouldnt be a bear to put back to stock if ever needed.

Sure for alot of folks thats sounds like what they dream for their car which is great!

For others who may have 500 or 700 labor hours and who knows how much cash invested into a project or multiple projects might have a different idea of the definition "Basically Stock"

Is one better then the other? No different folks, different strokes thats all.

A guy around the corner I know has a self built 800+WHP bugeye. I wonder what he considers basically stock? Ill have at ask when I see him later today.

Really though we arent going nuts on this one. Drive and enjoy a problem free car and trade it in around 60-100K miles.

Thanks, I really like the new age wrx. They really have come a long way from back when I bought mine. so much better performance out of the box and the quality of these cash is a step up from the older chassis. Just drives and rides so much better. deff lacks that raw feel but that can get over rated and old. Something comfy is a nice change.

Id love to find a higher millage 2011+ wrx nice clean body down the road. Keep it simple yet fun for a DD. Money for house is more important to me at this point.

Completely agree, they stepped up the game. I still recall taking a joy ride in my 05 after going back to stock. Totally different package compared to what you get now.

So I'm considering trading in my car, and I am trying to decide what I might want next. Whatever I get will be mainly left stock (my stock, not Ian's!) I am between getting another wrx premium, a brz limited or a 2014 forester xt premium. They all cost roughly the same but are all completely different.

What are your thoughts?

I'd wait for the new WRX. The BRZ is the most fun to drive but its going to be boring/scary in winter. Forester would be nice if it came with something other than a CVT. Or buy my 2011 lol

Get the brz! The 2013 Wrx will essentially be the same car you have now. And although the motor is badass in the fozzy, I don't think you'll like the handling.

Just my .02

I'm not waiting for the new wrx to come out, it has already been confirmed that it is the regular impreza with a hood scoop... no thanks! Maybe if it was the concept car I would wait, but no! That CVT is somewhat legit. As for the brz being crazy in the snow, so isn't a modified wrx with a driver that doesn't know what throttle modulation is...

The BRZ's do look nice, may need another vehicle for the winter though. Anyone drive a black wrx hatch going through Whitney point today?? I will spot one of you guys here one of these days!

The brz is what I'm leaning towards. I'm worried about having less power and not having awd, but its definitely a car that I won't do too much to.

The fozzy was ok handling, but it is still an SUV. It wouldn't be something that I raced, but it would be a kick ass daily with better MPG.

hard to answer... what do you want to do with this vehicle? off road? auto-x? track? general grocery getter? etc.

Brz will be fine in the winter! Brendan drove his through a blizzard on the way to Detroit. A proper set of snows will be all that's required

Yes it will be "down" on power compared to your current setup but you like taking turns more than straight line speed. If you didnt; you'd be going to the strip instead of small parking lots. There is something to be said about driving a car that actually turns when you tell it to....

It will mainly be my grocery getter, and I will probably auto-x it a couple of times a year. The problem with my car is that I went too far with it...

I'm sure that I could make it work in the winter. I love turns, but I love my get up and go as well... I don't want to drag the car, but I do love leaving cars in my dust! That's why I was considering a new stock wrx - power, awd and still a decent daily.

Not trying to be a d*ck... What does a 13 get you that you don't have in the '10?

It gets me not 40k miles, not a beat tranny and not a beat exterior. Its like going back to stock, but without the old car. I love the wrx, I just did too much. I will eventually get a STi and do a bunch of mods to it, but not right now.

The new WRX is going to share some DNA with the BRZ and probably be a lot more fun to drive than the current one, in addition to getting better mpg and probably finally getting a 6 speed.

As far as the BRZ being bad in the snow, its not so much that RWD is dangerous in the snow, its just a total bore for a large portion of the year up here. I had a G35 when I moved up here. It wasn't terrible in snow, but you need to go take your time and if you come upon a slightly steep hill you can't go up it even with blizzacks. WRX on the other hand you can just get going where ever you need to, you still need to be careful obviously.

I dont see the point of trading a 2010 for a 2013 either...people just think you have an sti all the time and you have to be like nah its just a WRX

I'm not trading a 2010 for a 2013 because I cream my pants over them. I'm getting rid of my car, and 2013 is what's out. The point of that isn't an upgrade, its that I want a New car.
