I almost hate to say this but it is what it is. The new Ipad totally destroys all other tablets.

I'm still waiting for someone to come out with an ECU that's tunable by a tablet. Whether it's Android or iOS, that'll be my choice of tablet.

If it's a good ECU.

It's pretty much the perfect application for a tablet. All other tablet "uses" is just entertainment and other content consumption. We need more useful applications.

I kind of thought it would have been done by now as far as the tuning goes. Entertainment and content consumption is what the bulk of all computers get used for. Tablet, pc, laptop etc. From what I have been reading more"useful" applications are being introduced daily. If apple and google have their way the laptop will be like film. Only the extreme fringe users will be using them. High end gamers, graphic artists and the like. On my last Dr visit I watched my doc lugging her laptop from exam room to exam room. I thought how much easier it would be to use a tablet for charting. It can most certainly be done. Stacy does her's on a blackberry. It eliminated three hours of paper work every Sunday night.

My thoughts for years. Since I got my netbook that lasted a few years and that I replaced a year ago or more. I always check out the windows tablets when I'm looking for a new laptop/portable but they all have a tablet-price-premium and low low almost retarded low comparable performance. Double the price to drop the keyboard for a touchscreen. Craziness.

2 years ago my doc used a blackberry. Even sent a script to my pharmacy right in front of me. Last week he had a tablet of some sort. Even knowing how simple such things could be, I was impressed by the infrastructure that allowed him to do so.

Here is one that is going in that direction.

http://www.tunerstudio.com/index.php/shadowloggerms

It can only log for now, but I think he is looking to make it into a tuning platform in the future.

And it would work on any megasquirt.

Yeah, you missed the qualifier about being a good ECU.

Just cause you don't understand something doesn't mean it isn't good.

No really, why in your opinion do you think it isn't "good".

my can't pay for it, cant turn it off, can't upgrade or even call verizon about it fios has finally given up the ghost. just ordered 15/5, cant wait for nearly triple the speeds. or just having an internet connection that isn't' through my fone. it's strangely relieving, having to pay for internet. we've been wondering for years when it was going to just shut off. every order we've put through has been automatically cancelled by verizons computer. tried for months and dozens of attempts to shut off so we could re-activate with a new connection. it was put into their system wrong when it was setup as 5/2mbit 3-4 years ago, and the local ISP we got it through doing resold fiber shut down and returned them all to verizon. but ours wasn't on any list of anyones. it was ghost fiber. some system or database update must have happened and finally purged it and shut it off, as we were finally listed in verizons system, and our location listed as "fiber ready"

I guess these people aren't pure scrappers, they are also collectors, throwing all kinds of useless junk in their trucks and driving around.
Gotta love scappers, when I moved out my apartment, a buddy of mine who scraps filed the back of his pick up with all sorts of exhaust pieces, including that rfl that I resurrected from the original pirate ship capsizing. Apparently, they get good money for catalytic converters, he took 3 with him, and an old exhaust off my sisters civic.

Now in my new neighborhood, the scrapper who I have not met, knows to check back by garage, I left some old rotors back there, and they were gone within days.

Speaking of, is that show still on tv? It was pretty funny.

Totally unrelated, while searching for rear end clunk (insert mom joke here) I realized the swap was a top scoob back in 08, not sure how I missed it, but belated congrats Danny.

edit: which apparently jsut happened.
sweet. 15/5 vs our old free 5/2. it really helps when you know exactly what to ask the techs to do. i was joking with the tech and we were at least chuckling the whole time.

It's cool, like as a science project. Model rockets were fun too. But do you have amateurs build your televisions and cell phones?

Of the people I've met running a MS, zero are reliable. None. Why stake your glass-fragile Subaru motors on some cut-rate EMS just to save a couple hundred bucks? It's a false economy.

To answer your first question. Yes. The parts that aren't assembled by robots, are most likely assembled by people who have very little (to zero) technical knowledge of the product they are producing. This doesn't mean at all that MS isn't a "good" EMS. To me this means you don't have the confidence in your technical ability to assemble electronic components. That still doesn't mean MS isn't a "good" EMS, because you can purchase them fully assembled and it still costs less then the competitors.

The car can only be as reliable as the tuner/builder makes it. There are very few cases where the MS is actually the problem if there is a reliability issue with a car that is running a MS. It is usually the tuner/builders fault for not having the knowledge to tune the car correctly, or making a mistake from inexperience.

Calling a MS a cut-rate EMS sounds like you are trying to say that it doesn't have the performance specs of its competitors. Or you are meaning the google definition of cut-rate "bargain-priced: costing less than standard price" which I would agree because it does cost less than your standard EMS.

Still, you haven't stated any reasons behind a MS EMS not being "good".
