So my garage is being renovated and I need a way/place to store my car. I was thinking a closed in car port but ive heard horror storys of them collapsing. I considered a nice car cover but have been told when any long term use of a car cover the scratches paint. Any input would be great. Thanks

Since we were talking about dynos a while back saying how they are good tools but don't always show the full picture, here is something you can't tell about a car by looking at a dyno chart.

This is the transient boost response @ 4000RPM on an 8CM 'FPGreen' on a 2.0L with '272' Crower cams with WGDC at 0% the whole time with a 0.8bar spring.

I imagine this curve would look steeper if the wastegate wasn't cracking open so early.

I'm trying to figure out what Invidia downpipe is on my car and can't tell from the pics I've seen online. The dealer told me this would pass emissions but I'm pretty sure it's a catless downpipe since there is nothing near the bellmouth.

I'm confused as to what the bigger part right before the flange is though?

if not a cat then resonator. shouldn't need a sniffer test so you'll pass. if you don't have a prefered inspection shop i have one, but most will think that's a cat and pass you

Looks like it used to be a cat if its not one now. Should pass a visual.

Behind the 02 sensor bung, would be a resonator, right?

No matter, take it to any shop owned by joe bob and he won't even look at it.

I'm thinking it's probably a resonator. Haven't seen any invidia down-pipes like that online though. Inspection isn't due till next January so I won't worry about it until then

Aftermarket down pipes almost never have resonators. It looks like a cat to me, tapers, proportions and welds and all that. You get a Cel with or without a cat on a pipe like that so I'm not sure the O2 placement matters. I think Cobb used to put a cat way at the end like that.

But whatever. Lots of stuff sold in the aftermarket makes no sense. If there's no honeycomb in it, it's a resonator now.. Probably would pass a visual regardless.

That's a high flow cat. I thought they intentionally put the cat as far from the turbo as possible. Didn't some rally cars put a token cat all the way at the tail pipe just because they had to have one in the system somewhere (probably didn't even get hot enough to function properly)?

I wasn't going to but since everyone is wondering I'll get a pic once I get home from work. It's still up on the stands with the mid pipe laying on the floor. I didn't get a clamp with it so I had to bum a ride to work

Your mom calls the bigger part "the tip."

My guess is it was gutted or made to look like it had a cat to fool a visual inspection.

You obviously haven't spent enough time reading through this thread. We are not very serious in here and most of the time it leads to horrible "your mom" jokes. Its all in good fun.

If you go back through this thread, you'll see that "mom" jokes run rampant. Silly, but entertaining! And no ill-will implied.
