Hey everyone,

I am very new to Subaru and cars in general, but I am looking for some local shops to go to for my Impreza. I want to put a resonated catback on it, and the only shops I know of are Moore and TPG. I have searched this thread and the interwebz but haven't come up with any quality results, and I apologize if I missed something.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It's good to hear that you're ready to make it happen and I responded back to your pm already. We have many options available and looking back at our past conversations I have a few resonators/mufflers in mind along with a few choices for the bumper mod. We look forward to hearing from you!

Can't say I've ever posted in the Pittsburgh thread but i'm a long time viewer and owner of a GRP MY07 WRX.

Does anyone around here know of a local shop that can do a custom revalve 7k/5k on a set of MR track series coilovers? I bought them way back in 09 and can no longer tolerate the 12k/10k rates that are currently on them for DD use.

Thanks

I'll be doing the same thing, or make an aluminum piece in place of the rubber bushing that is there. I believe the 08+ STi linkage will fit my car, but I'm not sure.

solid disc is a great idea unless you have a couple hundred thousand miles on it! they do wear out at the UJs. otherwise it's just drill out some rivets and bolt the disc in.

Yeah, that's a good point, with all new tierod ends and ball joints, I would be better suited to just pony up for a new STi linkage with fresh joints. The steering should feel way different now. Along with a lot more caster and less bump steer. I need to do some figuring on the wheel offset and scrub someday too

Installed a Nexus 7 in my car to replace the stock Nav. One of my main goals was to make it really easy to remove from the car so I mounted it in front of the bezel. Mounted the snap on back case with double sided industrial velcro (very strong).

Here are some pics:
Without the Schosche SU2027 (looks like crap):

After installing the Schosche:

Side view (need to trim the velcro)

That being said I have a stock Kenwood Nav unit for sale for $500 or best offer (comes with the navigation DVDs).

It's, ok. I'm a fan of clean installs, to the extent that I bought a JDM Bezel for a true double din for my nav unit, it would drive me nuts to have exposed wires.

Does the new nexus 7 have cell data or are you connecting to a phone?

I like clean installs too but there's no way to have it completely clean and make it removable without having to pull the bezel off each time.

There is a Nexus 7 with cell data but mine is WIFI only. I tether it to my Galaxy Nexus.

so, you have a head unit with an aux in installed in the car you feed into that? I wish a large manufacture would just make an android based hu that didn't suck.

Yeah it's this one. It supports bluetooth so my phone calls are routed through it. This head unit alone made the sound about 100 times better over the stock nav.

I just ended up going with the latest Pioneer AVIC-X unit, my younger brother works at a big box retailer and was able to get it for me for around $450, was planning on upgrading speakers as well, but, turns out, they sound decent, just piss poor head factory head units from Subaru.

Did the steering wheel control adapter as well, I dig it.

Before I did my install, I looked at doubledin cases and thought about building an x86 based head unit with a nice big HDD, but decided I don't have enough time for crap like that anymore. No reason someone doesn't make, like I suggested, nice android based HU with LTE built in.

I only have about $400 total in my setup and hopefully I can sell the stock nav. Plus I get a dual use tablet out of it since I didn't have a tablet before.

Did you buy your car new? If so, did the Nav cost like $1800 more?

I am about to put a Nexus 7 4G in my forester. Mine is going to be mounted so it looks like a factory screen. I am just going to hook the tablet directly to a 4CH amp. Whats nice is I will be able to stream the local radio stations.

Custom fab are are there already pieces available to do the install? This is really the only thing I would consider outside of a normal HU at this point.

I am using the JDM nav pod for my forester. The nexus 7 bolts up to the back of a double DIN opening real nicely. All the mounting is custom and I am doing some custom external buttons and such.
