So i am about to hit 61,000 miles and i need to do the so called 60,000 service maintenance This is what ill be working on... Plz let me know if this is a good start or if i should do more!
- Change oil and oil filter(synthetic and k&N oil filter) -Change fuel filter(??) -Change air filter(k&N) -Change brake pads and rotors(Brembo blanks and pads???) -Change Tranny Fluid(???) -Change Differential fluid(???) -Change Spark Plugs(???) -Change Brake fluid(???) -Change Engine Coolant(???) -???DRIVE BELT?????? Plz help me fill in the question marks with brands you guys think i should use or are reliable. The ones lables in red are the ones i am going to have to take the car somewhere to have done. Let me know if you think any of the red ones are easy to do? Also i am not sure if i need to change the drive belt, let me know what you guys think and thanks for all the help. I hope this is a pretty good start on basic maintenance.

Synthetic engine oil: 5w30 weight; Pennzoil
Oil filter: OEM Air filter: OEM Brake rotors: Brembo blanks are fine Brake pads: OEM or OEM equivalent from NAPA, CarQuest, etc. Automatic transmission fluid: Subaru Automatic transmission filter: Subaru or Wix or CarQuest or NAPA Front differential (if you have an automatic transmission) 80w90 weight - you don't need synthetic Front differential (if you have a manual transmission) 75w90 weight - you don't need synthetic. If however it is shifting heavy or notchy shifting, then consider Motul Gear300 synthetic 75w90 gear oil Rear differential: 75w90 weight - you don't need synthetic Spark plugs: NGK; you don't need to go to the dealer; you can get them from NAPA, CarQuest, Auto Zone, etc.; you don't need double platinum Brake fluid: DOT-4; any brand Clutch fluid (if you have a manual transmission) DOT-4; any brand Engine coolant: Subaru (non-premix) and distilled or deionized water (not tap water) - one gallon each Coolant additive: if recommended in Owner's Manual: Subaru - one bottle Belts (2): Alternator & Power steering; Air Conditioner: OEM or Gates Power steering fluid: Dexron VI Fuel filter: may be in tank; if so, it's not a readily servicable item and is supposed to be a 'lifetime' item (I say 100k miles) Last edited by Big-E; 02-24-2012 at 05:41 PM. |
