I know it's been dead for a while now but, does anyone ever meet in the inland empire anymore?
The new thing seems to be instagram now...

I'm in Orange County, so the IE is a bit far. I was hoping this forum wasn't dead. I got a wagon not too long ago, and been trying to find as much info about it as well as people who are into the whole wagon thing.

The forum isn't fully dead but Facebook Pages have taken a lot of the usuals off here because they can perpetually BS beyond what we were ok with in meet threads. There is still more knowledge and knowledgeable members and information here than all of Facebook and most other places combined. If at some point soon I'm back in another Subaru I may try and set a meet or something up again but you're more than welcome to bump an old meet thread or two that may be local to you and garner some new interest. If not making a new meet is all the better. Welcome and hopefully you can find some local or semi local members to get something going like I l've been able to help curate and participate in over the last 18+ years here.

What are some of the Subaru group names on Facebook? I've tried searching for some but couldn't find much for So Cal

I definitely agree that ALL of Nasioc sees far less activity now versus when I first joined. Perhaps it's the over-saturation of information via other mediums and/or perhaps it's the general unwelcoming feeling noobs get (ever visited the noobie section)?

Or maybe the original Subaru owners just graduated to other cars and this next generation isn't that in love with Subies either.

Who knows.

Yes,
There is many other websites and apps to communicate about the hobby.

I'm not sure about the whole "graduating" theory though...
Unless your moving up to a Ferrari or other exotic, you really haven't graduated at all...
I dont see a 5 series or E class a status symbol...

If you own your home and are debt free...
You have truly graduated...

There's quite a few I know in the area (including myself) but don't think the are really active in meets lately.

I've seen all the ebbs and flows whenever a new model hits to when the next "greatest" thing happens. From the older "stodgy" members who wish things never changed to the new owners who got it new or used I've seen it all. Many of us older members haven't moved on but more have less time to go and hang out/etc compared to when we used to. Have families and kids who are of driving age among other things. I know many who still lurk here even though they don't own a Subaru any more.
The change lately has been you no longer have to go to a meet to make new friends , see their latest mod, discuss taking a fun drive or otherwise as everyone now has a Facebook/Instagram/Snapchat/etc. & post all of that there.
Even when MySpace/Friendster hit we would still meet up or chat here more than on those places because we could all participate, including those from outside the circle because you didn't have to know someone to know someone to get to know someone like you do now.
I'm all for if you want to organize a meet at the local (restaraunt/mall/shopping center) but please do the right thing and not just loiter. We would do our best to get people management approval if we started to get bigger (10+) and make sure we utilized the businesses nearby as more than a bathroom ( grab a bite to eat, maybe talk to the owner about a group discount if you dine there on the regular).
Also do your best not to be "that one guy" who does some automotive jackassery at the meet or on the local streets because it will ruin that meet quicker than it will become popular. Also be welcoming to other makes and models as you never know when you may want to get a fun FWD hatch or a big V8 muscle car, heck maybe even an exotic. We had many of all types come to some of the better organized local meets and made great friends with most.

I look forward to seeing some fresh meets popping up and hopefully will get to attend a few again at some point.

I remember when we used to meet in the IE. It was a whole lot of talking, followed by a whole lot of eating and drinking at the Applebees late night happy hour. Still friends with the majority of the people I met at the meets, and I have actually come full circle back to another WRB Bugeye wagon. I can't get away from it. Although I also have a Porsche now and live in the bay area, so maybe a few things have changed.

These forums are pretty dead, but thats understandable with the advent of FB groups and stuff. I still just come here to shop and sell stuff periodically. And sometimes say hi to friends

Rich, I still have those old Work Racing Direction wheels I bought from you for my Legacy a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

I do remember when this forum was very active back in '08, when I had a WRX. Cars have come and gone since then. I'm back in a Subaru, but a Legacy Outback now. I used to go to the Lake Forest meets. I, for one, am down to roll out to a meet or two just to shoot the breeze about subies and whatever. I miss the Subie community.

i am willing to participate in this! i just picked up a subaru... i have a few buddies who drive subarus too, but we don't know of any meets. can we get this snowballing? i live in anaheim... i'm down for any local cities though!

there is a TGIF in Anaheim Hills in Savi Ranch that has a big lot that is well lit. i know they have happy hour every hour at the bar...
there is also this big parking structure in downtown fullerton that is almost always empty mid week. a lot of restaurants around in downtown fullerton.
just throwing some locations out there...

That TGIF was home to a classic long running meet that spanned almost a decade plus. Good times were had there and many great friendships made. Could be good to bring it back. I believe the threat was TGIM at TGIF.

I'm up for the meets in the area - DTF weekdays sounds great as the parking garage downtown should have space.

Or, I could see about using the CSUF parking garage if we can avoid people driving like dodo heads on/near campus. It's adjacent to the freeway if we decide to cruise out elsewhere.

Can we plan for early January?

In the north OC area we've done meets a couple times at The Hat in Brea or BJ's at the mall. I wouldn't risk CSUF too much as they would be a bit more strict.

I still have them. I'll either get them cleaned up and sell them, or I'll barrel them out to 17 x 8 and use them as my street wheels.

So far as I know, they're still the only set of 5x100 Racing Directions in the country.

I started that one, it was a great weekly meet for a long time. I don't have a Subaru, but I'll show up if we bring it back.
