Thanks, I got it all sorted. I've been trying to contact @SVXdc; to buy the harness and ASWX-1 but have not had any response

Be patient. He will get back to you and then it will be quick. It is a side job for him, not his day gig. Took a few days to get back to me too, but it was worth the wait!

Now if you would like I can post pics of what all this looks like in my 2014 also what the back up camera looks like on the car and what it looks like from the head unit..

I got all my bluetooth buttons working from the SW controls but it took me a few days and a lot of reading and searching on how to program and getting it to work..

That backup camera is awesome it is the same one that comes on a factory Impreza and looks to be the same kind they are using on the 2015 wrx...

Does that cam work well in the dark?
Looks like a pretty good deal. I wanted one that worked, but also one that was really cheap.

Oh ok.. so that's your review on Amazon. Yeah that looks pretty good actually.

I remember when I took that piece out to go have it painted (mine came chrome), I think I remember the pods the lights were mounted to being a bit of a pain..

Anyways, do you need to run power wires back there too? I already have a big fat power wire for a big amp, but I'd rather tap into something else. Seems like it could run off the reverse lights or license plate lights, and only power on when needed. Not sure though.

Any time when you get it in if you have any questions let me know I have hooked a few of them up.. Just a side note, When you do hook it up and everything go into the setting of the head unit and change the input to battery and that will trigger the cam each time you put the car in reverse..

Change input to battery? Hmm.. Not sure what you mean. I guess it is a setting.. I think my HU has a bunch of different settings for backup cam initiation.

I have a Pioneer AVH-P3300BT (discontinued now)

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130P330....html?tp=20217

I did the trick with a relay to fool the head unit into thinking the car is on park all the time so I can access any menu I want, such as calling people from screen, watching DVD, etc. I hope I can make the screen show backup cam automatically somehow.

I guess that's what you are talking about?

when you hook up a backup cam it will have a setting that asks you how to detect the reverse signal when its set to battery, when you put the car in reverse and the light comes on it triggers the signal wire to the head unit and turns the camera on and switches the screen to show the cam.. Also if you did the relay trick you can wire the camera power to a hot wire that is always on with the car and when your going down the road you can turn the camera on from the head unit and watch the road go by lol

question for you,...i'm thinking of adding the camera to mine and i already have the brake bypass. The question is using the reverse light power method, does the screen automatically switch over to the camera, or do you have to manually press the input button to change the screen?

i'm trying to make this thing dummy proof

Yeah he just said that it would.. he mentioned that particular setting you had to change.. input type battery.

He said it would come on when you put it into reverse.

My mom has a 2011 Forester Limited with stock non Navi radio. I wonder if I could hook it up to that? I know there's probably a lot of info at subaruforester.org anyways.

There is two wires that get wired into the light- 1. Signal wire to head unit and the 2nd is the power for the camera.. NOW a little trick.

Wire the signal to the reverse light and this will trigger the switch on the head unit when the car goes into reverse.

Wire the camera into a power that is always on with the car running and then you can use the camera when going down the road.... I always found it funny to do that when people where in the car with me lol...

If you have any more questions just ask I always loved doing stereo installs so I don't mind answering questions.

Thanks. Yup I have the physical manual still, but it's nice to have a digital copy too... I remember reading it thoroughly a couple times when I first got thew head unit. There's a ton of stuff in there.

Were the directions similar with your HU?

The only thing I am really worried about is the resolution not matching up.. seems like the screen resolution of this cam is higher than that of my display, but I should be able to get it to work with the scaling options. If not, the worst that can happen is I send it back..

It should look very good, I have a older one in my explorer and it worked very well, Heck the only reason I have one is because well I really don't know why I have one lol I don't think I have ever really used it to back up..

Yeah in Impreza sedans it isn't like it's impossible to see out the back.

I think if I get it to work where it just comes on instantly when I put it in reverse, I'll check it before backing up though, just for safety. Also in tight spots I could see it coming in handy.

Plus it's just a cool gadget!
