I was thinking rear wheel drive, but a Suby would have some advantages with this crowd and it would probably be the only one on the grid.

+1 for being the only one on the grid.

imo having awd will hurt us more than help us at this power level. especially on tarmac. so we convert to rwd, how reliable is it going to be?

a great thing about a suby is we all have extra parts and we know how to work on them.

One man is travelling across the USA using only bacon
http://www.examiner.com/article/one-...ing-only-bacon

"Many have questioned why the internet seems to be in love with bacon. Despite the taste and smell, some claim they need proof of the love of bacon. One man has decided to get that proof. Josh Sankey, an actor, working with Oscar Meyer, is travelling across the country, from coast to coast, using bacon.

"I need your help. I'm driving from NY to LA with no cash and no cards — just a trailer full of Butcher Thick Cut Bacon to barter with you for food, lodging and everything else I need,"

The ideas are flowing and that's a good sign!! Let's narrow it down to 3 cars and start looking. I assume miata is on the list, so what else ? Let's get this going so the sooner we get on the track. I'd say lets get a flexible platform that allows us to have fun at first and then reconsider taking it to the next level if all are in agreement.

FRIDDDAAAYYYYY!

Miata, subaru(ahhh yeaaaah), any brick volvo, older bmw cars.

Older cars would be easier keep running with a minimum of parts/knowledge at the track.

And it would be easier to get mo powah from a carburator engine.

anyone know the list of what cars came turbo'd back ikn the day? Those cars are what we should aim for due to the nature of every oem released turbo car generally having better setups.

Check the rules - take note of the what constitutes the value of the car and what we can add on without breaking the $500 barrier. =) Let's start searching for possible car candidates... and for a theme -ahem boba- .

edit:

pages 50-51 has the approved "$500" car list

edit 2:

check their forums. also this, hehe: http://forum.chumpcar.com/index.php?...to-be-a-chump/
So I reviewed the links and wanted to get some clarification....If we pick a car from the $500 AIV list and keep it 100% stock except for safety equipment then the Tech Inspectors will consider it a $500 car and no proof is needed from 10 internet ads showing the market value????If yes then realistically it doesn't make sense because the cars in that list are way over $500 including ones in horrible condition. For example, I haven't found a bmw 2002 in the $500 range in years unless it was only the shell for sale Don't even get me started on the Alfa's

Well the disclaimer is the following: UNLESS SPECIFIED, NO TURBO OR SUPERCHARGED MODELS ARE ALLOWED

The list is pretty vague and doesn't specify the turbo models so I'm assuming the turbo models for those cars are out. For example the volvo's just mention the 240/740/850/940 and doesn't state the turbo models so I guess they are out of the list and we could only get the NA models?? But, if you notice the Buicks... it's all models up to 1995, well there are turbo buicks and supercharged buicks that are included in that so I think there's a loop hole there. I suggest we pick a car from the list and if we have questions on a certain turbo model then we need to talk with someone from chumpcars to get it sorted out.

Ah, so there is a list of 10 cars that we don't need to show AIV for right? Let's see it and pick from there.

If at all possible, id love to drive and build an 80s ford escort gt. They're cheap and have a HO 1.8L

The creative and innovationless spectrum of allowable setups are limiting my interest the more I read.

I'm having a hard time understanding how the BMW models made it to that $500 AIV list. There's a difference in performance between the 318 and 325. I think this list provides more options for racers in order to make these events more appealing and easier to join. I'm going to look for a contact # or email address to ask a few questions regarding this and what cars do not apply.

its basically 100% stock aside from tires or you get lap penalities. Don't let that discourage you, we can always aim for an E30 and call it a day

Ok now I'm confused! E36 chumpcar selling for 4500 including trailer...

http://forum.chumpcar.com/index.php?...chumpcar-team/

I'm assuming it's a given that this car will receive penalty laps when entering an event???
