Default Question about sitting motor!

So my car has been down for about a year now and hasnt had any fluid in it for atleast 6 months.Should i be putting something in there to stop it from rusting in the cly walls and stuff? I have turned it over and its smooth and there is residue oil left but i dont wanna cause any problems. Thanks!

I use WD-40 on the cylinder walls if I am going to leave a block sitting around without pistons or anything. I've never done anything to an engine that's still in the car, but if you are storing it for a long time, probably not a bad idea.

Always wondered this. I've heard to drain oil as it can become corrosive if just sitting for a long time. My BIL swears by filling block with diesel. Never done that one.

I used to buy junkyard motors back in the day. Most of them put some diesel in the combustion chamber to keep the rings and cylinder from rusting. Similiar idea to the wd-40. I bet there are a lot of resources for storing classic cars on the internet. That would probably be the best advice to follow, since a lot of those engines need more care than todays engines.
