Default Accessport compatibility.

Well, I tried Cobb customer support in order to find out if my car will be compatible with the Accessport but there response did not help me at all, so i will try you guys out.

I have an 05 WRX, but i live in Venezuela South america, I am not
clear if my vehicle is USDM spec or is produced with some diferences.
What do i have to look for in my car in order to determine its origin
and if it will be compatible with you accessport, im talking about maybe a ECU code or similar. I really dont want to buy something that has to be protuned and I know as much about tuning as a frog, so self tune is in no way possible.

TIA,
Stefano

....you may have to lift the carpet on the passengers side floor and take the access panel out(3 bolts) and write down all the nunbers on the ECU and post them....that would be a start

Stefano,

I think you would know if your car was USDM spec or not. I do not think
we offer an AccessPORT that is compatible with your ECU at this time.

Cheers,
Justin

Stefano,

Uncle Scotty is correct, finding out what ECU you have is key. It may also be important to note what octane gas you will be using to see if that is compatible also. (likely it will be) I also sent you a PM

Good luck,

Louis

Do you know if that is RON or RON+MON/2? In the US we rate our gas as R+M/2 so your 95 could be higher than our 93 octane or lower say equivalent to our 91 octane for example. I will see if i can find out with a quick google search if you don't know. Hope this helps

Good luck with the search, i have been at it for the last hours...

This : Check out page 6 of this article makes me think it is 91 octane (RON+MON/2), Other articles then state "Número de octano comercial = (RON + MON)/2" wich literally translates into: "The comercial number for octane rating is (R+M)/2", therefore it should be 95 RON+MON/2 at the pump.

The unavailability of information in this country sucks...

I will keep looking after i get back from class...

Yes i'd tend to agree for two reasons. 1) Most countries to rate their gas in RON. 2) I also found this proposal to eliminate leaded gas at the pump in Venezuela amongst other countries....seems they propose to have 95RON by 2005 in unleaded form and 85 MON. That jives with your findings of ~91 octane (MON+RON/2)

To make things a little more confusing, i just got off the phone with the top tuner in the country, he claims gas is rated (m+r)/2, seing that he has a selftuned 1000hp supra and has been in business for over 10 years, i doubt hes wrong...

Edit: We only have unleaded now, the change was done at the beggining of 05.

In our experience, the vehicles in South America are not US spec vehicles. Therefore, the AccessPORT will most likely not work on your car. Sorry for the bad news!
