Question So, how's the insurance out there?

I'm about to renew my insurance, which costs me an arm and a leg up here in New England. Since I'll be moving out there in a couple months, I was wondering if there's any hope in sight for it to get cheaper. For those of you who have lived on the mainland prior to living out in Hawaii, how does car insurance compare?

Thanks,
Pat Olsen
'97 Legacy 2.5GT sedan

PS - I expect to be out there around October 15th, and I might make the October 26th auto-x after all. We'll see how things pan out with my new sub's schedule.

It's less than I paid in New York...

Pat, aren't you with USAA?
They have great military rates...
..... all they do is military.
800-531-8111 is the customer line.
I think new customers/quotes is -8181 or -8080

USAA dropped me after I totalled my first Legacy at Lime Rock. So, I'm now trying to keep my record clean for 3 frickin' years so I can get back with USAA again.

As I recall, rates here and in Saratoga Springs, NY (which is where you're referring to, I assume) were pretty similar, so hopefully I'll get a little bit of a break when I get out there.

I know this is a WRX, and you have a Legacy but if you can extrapolate any meaning from this (ask local WRX guys what they pay would be the easiest way I guess ) - I pay:

'02 WRX, 5MT
30 Year Old Male (!!)
1 Ticket
0 accidents (EVER)
Former home owner (if credit makes a difference as some say)

$1007.11 / 6 months (OUCH!)

USAA

Am I the only one whose car is just listed as Impreza? I have a 2002 WRX, clean sheet record but I'm just 18. 625 for 6 mo full coverage.

I dunno, 860 for all that stuff and 2 vehicles: 1 sports car, 1 SUV isn't that bad. I wish it was less, of course, who doesn't.
But my tickets:
140 in a 55<------ but that was 7 yrs ago.
64 in a 55 (reduced from 90in a 55)
w/o registration
or license (motorcycle)
for a total of 4 tickets

I dunno, that's why I added that it was so long ago; just in case. Chances are that it isn't on my record anymore. Besides that, I had a Calif drivers license then. Since then I've had an Idaho and New York license. So who knows...

Different states have different laws when it comes to insurance coverage and abstracts.

Darn! You guys are gettin' out for WAY less than I am. I wonder what the deal is? Maybe my credit is FUBAR after having sold my home suddenly. Hmmm...

Well, it was a joint ownership with my girlfriend (other girlfriend, a little while back) and the mortgage company got a little confused as to who was responsible for what and FUBAR'd my credit for a while.

I just can't think of any other reason that I'm paying so much more than you guys for insurance while being an old man with 1 ticket.

Progressive.com is evil. That was the site that "promises" low rates but in turn gave me a 1,100 dollar quote for six months.
