Leaked Pics Appear to Show a Sprawling, Gorgeous SimCity 5
A set of seven leaked images assumed to be concept art for SimCity 5 have surfaced today, along with rumors indicating that the game is 30% of the way through development, and will be released in 2013.

Users at NeoGAF have posted the images as well as a translation from a print edition of German magazine Gamestar, the full text of which, along with the images, appears on a Spanish-language site.

Loosely and imperfectly translated, the details seem to indicate players can look for an increasing level of complexity, detail, and personalization from the next entry in the franchise, as well as more connection to the online, multiplayer sphere. Regions built from multiple players' cities can be susceptible to, for example, fluctuations in the cost of necessary commodities like coal.

Beyond the classic interactions with graphs, metrics, and city councilors, they appear to be introducing a more human element. If unemployment in a Sim City is too high, public parks might fill with homeless. When building infrastructure, construction workers actually appear to do the building. Citizens go shopping, to school, or to work.

Fans have been speculating for a few days now that the "Game Changers" announcement EA is teasing for next week, during GDC, will end up being SimCity 5.

We are reaching out to EA for comment and will update the story with any response.

I have it, it was a lot more like 2000 than that crappy SC3. I enjoyed it, at times the large map could be a resource hog, but was fun.

I've always had problems with this too! Trying to create realistic areas or recreate cities. Makes it a bit difficult.

I was thinking if they used triangles as zones, instead of squares, you can make it face a lot more directions then!

But the article in those links does state you can actually create winding roads in this one. That would be awesome.

Sim City 4 with the terrain mods, added Agriculture, Commercial, and NMA transportations packs from Simtropolis makes one of the most realistic city management sims I've ever seen. You haven't played SC4 until you've played it modded. It's astonishingly complex.

Yes, SimCity 4 Deluxe is worth it! I think on steam you can get it for cheap.

Go to Simtropolis.com and register for mods galore! Network Addon Mod (NAM) is a must it's a complete new highway and road network system so your sims take the freeway if its faster instead of the lone back road with slow speed limits. Then it's up to you after that, download region maps, custom buildings, real buildings, highway systems, interchanges and even real life terrains of your own city.

i always felt cities xl 2011/2012 was kind of what simcity 5 would have been like if it wasn't sim city societies. cities xl wasn't that great so it wouldn't be TOO terribly difficult to be better...
