Default GDB 207 exhaust on GC8 type R?

Hey guys, I did a search, but didnt find anything. I have a 99 GC8 Type R, and my question is will a JDM GDB exhaust fit on my car? I have heard that the USDM exhausts are too short for Japanese models. I have also heard that one of the exhaust hangars is on the other side.

In other words, will an exhaust meant for a GDB EJ207 fit on a GC8 with the original EJ207?

the USMD vs JDM exhaust for GC and GD are not different lenghts, they just have the joint between the downpipe and the mid section, in a different place. USDM downpipe is longer, mid pipe shorter. (hope that makes since)

if you use the whole turbo back from a US GD it will fit on a JDM GC and the other way around.

i have installed GD exhaues on GC cars with JDM engine swaps. you just have to swap the whole thing. (if you need a JDM downpipe, i have a few)

as for JDM GD to GC, i would think it would be the same. but have not done it myself. so cant say 100%.

Thank you for the reply, so if I used an aftermarket exhaust from a JDM GDB on my GC8, which of these two downpipes would I use? I have the stock catted one, and I have an aftermarket catless one that was about 2-3 inches too long to use on my current exhaust (HKS meant for the GC8)

Also when you've done that in the past was there any issue with exhaust hangars?

My GC has GD exhaust (Helix dp and HKS Carbon Ti catback) on it. One of the exhaust hangers have no where to be mounted on.... No problems. I would definitely get some kartboy exhaust hangers (long one), because they are stiffer and gives better clearance.

ok, thanks for the help. Which exhaust hangar doesnt line up? the first one after the downpipe?

So the Helix DP you have is longer than the stock GC one, because it is a USDM dp right?

The one right in front of the muffler doesn't line up unless you have a GD rear subframe in it.

Default Confirm

I can confirm what suberdave posted I have 99 jdm STi type Ra & bought a complete TBE (fully 3" with bellmouth dp) and @ first look it shows like it would not fit, but ones you have your stock dp and the rest of the exhaust remove and install the new TBE for GDB and viola everything fits nice w/o any further mod.

Thanks guys, Im now looking at the same exhaust, but for the GC8. It popped up on Yahoo aucitons. If it falls through I'll probably get the GDB. I'm not sure if my bellmouth DP is GDB or GC8. It said GC8 when I bought it at upgarage, but it is longer than the stock. I suppose if I ordered the GDB exhaust I can just find out which of the two to use when I put it on.

Preciate the help!
