Default New Short Block Super Thread! WRX / STi / Legacy

Our Subaru Short Block program has been growing more and more over the past few months. We are steadily getting busier and offering more and more combinations that have worked very well for our in house builds. We love putting together motors and really seeing what our work is capable of.

We're shipping motors all over the country. We've been shipping to all kinds of customers, other shops and race programs all over the good old US of A.

We've got a short block to meet ANY power demand and just about any budget. Our in house builds have really shown us that our build process works and so we're going to list a multitude of options. If you've got a combo or spec that you'd like built to, just let us know. We'll put together a custom quote for you.

Here are some of our STi Short Block Options!

S&R STi 2.5L Short Block - Stage 0

Our Stage 0 Short Block starts off as a brand new EJ257 Short Block from Subaru. Unlike most other shops that offer a Stage 0, we do not just throw in a set of Forged Pistons, slap our name on it and send it on it's merry way. We properly hone the cylinders to fit the new forged pistons.

Features:
Forge Pistons of You Choosing (Options Listed Above)
STi Rods
Nitride Crankshaft
STi Block (EJ257)
OEM Bearings
Good to 450bhp

This is a great solution for anyone dealing with bad ring lands, detonation or rod knock. We can typically turn these around pretty quick and there is no core due!

Each short block is hand assembled, in house and will come with complete documentation of the build and notes and instructions on proper final assembly and break in. If you have a specific spec that you'd like it built to, we can also accommodate those needs.

S&R STi 2.5L Short Block - Stage 1

Our Stage 1 is our best seller. This short block allows you to really push your stock block core about as far as you can without sleeving. The use of the Manley H Beam rods makes this good to roughly 600bhp and so most of your bigger bolt on and rotated kit based builds.

Good to 600bhp

S&R STi 2.5L Short Block - Stage 2

Our Stage 2 STi Short Block is really built to handle as much power as the stock sleeved block can handle. We take our Stage 1 build process but instead of the H Beam Rods, we step it up to the Manley Turbo Tuff I Beams! These are BEASTLY rods. These rods can handle over 800hp and with these forged pistons, well, let's just say that you can boost to your hearts content!

Manley I Beam Turbo Tuff Rods
Nitride Crankshaft
STi Block (EJ257)
OEM Bearings - ACL Bearings available upon request
Internals Good to 800bhp

I will have a review coming out for their stage 2 reinforced shortblock....I can't wait to see pic or take them....Marti has taken the time to answer my questions prebuild and through the ordering process....

oh yeah! Joel ordered his block the other day and we're working hard to make sure to keep up with our no more than 2 week turn around on these short blocks.

Block was in the CNC last night getting the supports built in and is in the honing process, now!





Stage 1 Plus and Stage 2 Plus Blocks honed and on to assembly!

After a solid year of trying, testing, re-trying, re-testing and more, our Closed Deck Short Blocks are available!

Our in-house engineer and CNC Machinist saw a demand for a block design that was different, easier and more cost effective than the typical sleeving process. He got to the drawing board and played with a few different variations and tried a few different things. At the end of the day, he got it down, TIGHT!

Here is it is!

We start with new STi Short Block Halves in our CNC Machine. They are secured and the CNC begins to cut the seat into the water jackets. This creates a consistent and secure seat for our braces. Here are a few pics of the block halves after the first round of machining and a video. (working on getting a better vid)








The inserts are cut from a single piece of aluminum. We try and cut quite a few from each piece.


We then go through and press the inserts into the machined seats and the cylinders are finished hone to the proper size for the pistons.

The finish work is completed and the block is ready for assembly!









We currently offer these in our popular Stage 1 and Stage 2 configurations

It's our opinion that this is a viable solution for anyone looking for make over 500-600hp and not have to worry about the cylinder walls breaking.

We have also already completed 2 STi Manley Stroker Kit blocks that are running SOLID! Those will be offered shortly! They are beasts!

These motors are always sold as NO CORE DUE.
