Default 98 legacy ob turbo upgrade

i have the entire drive train from a 06 lgt in my 98 lob and it runs great. but after a couple of years you get used to it ya know? so i am upgrading the vf40 to a vf52. initially only 2 noticable differances in the actual turbo. first the vf52 does not have the mount to secure the oil pipe, will have to make a small bracket to keep it from vibration. second the vf52 surely does have a bigger turbine wheel! i was making 17 lbs with the vf40, will post the after install reading soon. i am using a 04 sti ecu. (simplest way to get away from the CAN data, imobilizer etc)

Default Upgrade

IMHO, the 2004 STi ECU does not play well with an 2006 Legacy GT engine? I think the cams are different.

You are right about the newer bus being a hassle. Check with someone like iWire or your regional forum. You do not need to reinvent the wheel.

i thought i read that iwire did not do anything with CAN data, could be wrong. i had tried a 04 forester XT ecu and the sti one ran much better (both stock config)
