Default Road rally vs Cruise vs Meet

Okay, I asked this question 4 years ago and am going to try again. I just don't learn.

Which do you prefer, a cruise, a meet or an organized SCCA rally? And if you would please, why.

hmmm, i'll bite.

i'd have to go with a cruise, they normally start or end with a meet. or a few folks hanging out and afterwards. so its kind of two in one in a way. road rallies are a blast, but a little expensive for me at the moment.

how bout all three... have a cruise, and have a cruise down dome dirt roads (if you can find) and then have a meet prior or after. Solved!

Autox>rally=cruise>meet

Autocross is the best, you gave the meet component with some performance driving (cost $40avg).

Rally is fun but they are few and far between and cost about the same as an autox. Cruises have as much or more driving than a rally and they are usually free (plus gas).

Meets are cool and free but are just a social function.

It's more like 1a, 1b, 1c, but here's the order:

1. organized event: road rally, track day, autox etc...
2. cruise
3. meet

Also, did you ever hear from Sasha about getting together for an informal rally school? I asked several times on the forum, but got no response. Are you guys trying to ditch me? It's like high school all over again!
See you on Saturday!

We can certainly put together a rally school. I can't teach it because I am terrible at TSD and other course following types of road rally. I will aks Sasha and Liz.

Awesome! Thanks for asking!

I wasn't trying to be a pest or anything, but I'd heard it mentioned, and I am very interested in getting to know more about what goes into setting up these events and how to navigate the rules, course directions, etc... I've had so much fun, I'd like to get better!

Sure, I'll put on a rally school. Some Saturday between now and July 13 (Clear Blue Sky Rally). How about the back room at a BBQ place at lunch time? June 8, 15, or 22? Spring Creek on Midway south of Belt Line has a big private room. Would that be OK? It will take an hour, maybe two if there are lots of questions. No driving involved....you can come to Clear Blue Sky to try out what you have learned.

Awesome, thanks so much for making the offer! Unfortunately, due to two trips out of state, the only date I can make is this Saturday, around 1pm. The Spring Creek BBQ in Richardson is perfect. How's that day/time for you and any other interested parties?
Thanks again!

Time and place are OK, but their banquet room is so big we probably can't get it reserved for just 8 or 10 people. I'll drop by there tomorrow and check it out.

Meanwhile, I need a head count. Is anyone else interested? If there are just a few, we can just grab any table, and I'll sit with you and talk.
