Default Need Advice on 2012 Impreza Aftermarket Nav/Satellite Radio options

Am about to purchase a 2012 Impreza 2.0i Limited w/o in dash Satellite radio or Navigation. These are important options for me. What are my aftermarket options. I went to Crutchfield, but they said they couldn't advise because there was not "kit," available and an install would have to be custom.

In dash is important to me.

I think you could swap for an aftermarket face unit and get a receiver. I know that's what my dad chose to do in his '10 Legacy.

Many people do the swap, but am looking for specific recommendations.

2012 Impreza

I just put in a Sony XNV-770BT. The fit kit from the 2011 Impreza will sorta work. The plastic bracket the radio mounts to won't fit, but you can use the metal brackets off the stock radio. Since you aren't using the plastic brackets, the trim piece that fills the gap won't be attached to anything, but it won't fall out once the dash is put back together. The trim piece doesn't quite fit right, but it's good enough.

Basically any 2 din radio will fit. I haven't had the Sony for long enough to really give a recommendation for or against it. I do like having TomTom navigation rather than something made for the specific radio... makes it more likely map updates will be available and not absurdly expensive.

The sat radio module for the sony supposedly sucks, though, so if sat radio is important to you, I'd look elsewhere.
