If you had the code or multiple codes, and the service manual for the engine, you could look up the test procedure, and when the problem is isolated what to do to fix it.

Unfortunately, I can't help you find a competent service department because I havn't had any of them work on my WRX with 19,000 miles.

For what its worth, there is a Subaru dealer in Frederick, Fredericktown Motors, which is also a ford dealer. I don't know how good the mechanics are, but I have bought parts there, although I prefer to get parts from Internet vendors.

I bought my car from Fitzgerald in Rockville, and they did good work on installing the non-standard options that came with the car, but I have never had them perform any service. Someone here once remarked that he thought they were pretty good. When I bought the car with sport options, one of the guys there was operating a web site for mods, if I recall correctly, SPT, and it was fun to talk to him while purchasing the car.

Lastly, the fellow who runs Westminster Speed and Sound told me that the dealer in Hanover (Lawrence??) was a friend of his and the shop was good. Why not ask Mark at Westminster Speed and Sound about Hanover, since that is the closest one to you.
