Default avg cost to replace pistons

I can do majority of the work(minus boring), but how much hours of labor does a shop charge? I'll admit I've only contacted one shop since not much in the area specialize in Subarus, but they will not give me a quote or rough estimate unless I bring the car in(at least the seem reluctant to do so).

I'm just.trying to figure out if its worth just letting a shop do everything.
