In case you don't realize it all the gas comes from your local terminal where the nationwide pipeline comes in or if you are on the coast wherever the tankers unload. Here it's in Whitehall Pa, behind an old sams club, you see all the tankers fill up there and head out to deliver to multiple stations of all different brands, Sunoco has tanks across the street so the terminal pumps it under the street to those tanks where I guess Sunoco pours in sunoco mojo juice or whatever. NJ had Hess but their refinery was closed down, when you bought Hess gas you got Hess gas provided you were within a 50 mile radius, after that it cost too much fuel to drive to further out stations. Hess supplied most of the stations in the newark nyc area. Bottom line, the base product is all the same and meets federal and state requirements.
Surprisingly enough I got my best mileage from the last fill up I did at a Gulf station last week, that was my FIRST 35MPG tank on a normal commute week. I have not been able to find a gulf owned refinery in the US in years.

first of all...we dont import gasoline

all gas isnt the same....well...the additives that the individual companies add are different
just a few ppm of some of the additives can make a huge difference

so even one gallon of additives in a tanker load can make one gas FAR better than another

gas is a very regional item and even differnt counties can have different gas....research 'boutique gasoline' and you will see
'
http://www.aei-ideas.org/2012/04/let...soline-regime/

but anyway....the MYTH that all gasoline is the same is just that....

i paid $3.64.9/gal for 93...exxon in north jacksonville last nite
