Default P1722 after 5mt swap

Car: 2001 subaru outback sport.
Engine: EJ222

Car was a 4EAT
Swapped in a JDM WRX 5MT

Already wired in:
Neutral safety switch.
Reverse lights
Shift/key locks
Vehicle speed sensor

At first I had 3 codes. 2 for torque convertor, and one for AT diagnosis signal. Once I plugged in the TCM, The two for the torque convertor disappeared, but the P1722 is still there. I have done a LOT of reading up on this, and most people agree that for this kind of swap, there is a signal wire to the ECU, that you can ground to put the ECU in MT mode. I saw one one thread that someone said the pin was B135-25. the ECU connectors didn't have a pin in that slot, so I hacked something together to get connection to the pin on the ECU. I grounded it, but It made no difference, I still have the pending P1722, no mater how may times I delete it.

Are you sure that is the correct sheet for your exact year of ECU? They moved pins around on cars even when the plugs were the same.

No, I am not, but I have herd reference in several threads to b135 25. The Service manual I have for the 2001 does NOT show a AT/MT selector pin.

Hi
The older Subarus definitely used one ecu for both - I've had more than one....but sometime since 2000+ they went to separate ECUs. Check the part number on your ECU and look it up on ebay for the 5-speed/manual ECU for you car...to see if they're different. Also, opposedforces.com MAY have this info...not looked for ECUs there.....found THIS...Subaru calls it an EGI Control Unit

For F.s.m. info check post 11 HERE. Should have one.

GL,
TD
