Default Mishimoto 2015 WRX Tuning Announcement!

Hey Nasioc,

As we mentioned in some of our other threads floating around on the boards and throughout social media, we are planning to offer several tunes specific to our products. Our goal is to provide additional support for our power-adding products and to help you get the most from your purchase and your vehicle.

We have hinted that we are working on tunes for several products and fuel octanes. We are now very close to releasing this, so we are able to provide some information on what is to come in the very near future.

Our products will be supported by Mishimoto developed tunes through the use of an EcuTek device. If you are not familiar with this device, the basic specs are listed at the link below!

EcuTek Information

We found that the EcuTek device is extremely user friendly and provides a ton of features that are useful for custom tuning, data logging and loading pre-made tunes.

We will be offering this device on our site for consumer purchase at $645.00. This price includes the device, the software, and the license! This device will unlock additional power and we will provide maps to support all of our existing and future power-adding products for the 2015 WRX. Although our intake does function safely on the factory tune and provides great gains, we were able to unlock even more power with a tune. A few of our exhaust components may require tuning, especially when combined with other components. We will have more detailed information as it relates to each specific product once we get further along in the development process.

With the purchase of any of our components, you will receive FREE TUNES FOR LIFE for any combination of our product offerings. We will be providing all of the necessary information upon product purchase for acquiring the tune files and loading them onto your device.

Although Mishimoto is not intending on making custom tunes for individuals, as a recognized programming device, you will also be able to use your Ecutek to work with tuners to build custom maps for your DIT.

See below for what we have in the works and planned for the future!

Tunes Currently Finalized

Product(s): 2015 WRX Mishimoto Intake
Fuel Type: 91 Octane
Transmission Type: Manual

Product(s): 2015 WRX Mishimoto Intake

Product(s): 2015 WRX Mishimoto Intake
Fuel Type: 93 Octane
Transmission Type: CVT

Future Tunes
We will be offering tunes specific for each of our product combinations. This will include both 91 and 93 octane fuel and the manual and CVT transmissions. Our goal is to provide support for any possible combination of power-adding products we offer. Tuning updates will be provided once we get further along in the development process for our components.

Product Development
We are currently focusing on developing the power-adding products listed below!
  • Downpipe
  • Cat-back exhaust
  • Top-mount intercooler
As we near completion of each project, we will be developing a tune specific to that product and its combination with all of our other products. In doing so we will have a full line of bolt-on products and applicable tunes when a new component is added. Check out the details of our intake which is due to be released next week, and the downpipe which we have been developing for some time.

Mishimoto 2015 WRX Intake
We currently have a group-buy on the forum for our intake kit. Check out the details below!
  • Direct fit for the 2015+ Subaru WRX
  • Dyno-proven maximum gains of up to 33 whp and 30 wtq and peak gains of up to 28 whp and 21 wtq while maintaining safe AFRs on the stock tune
  • Extremely aggressive intake tone under acceleration and boost
  • Optional airbox inclusion retains stock-like engine bay appearance
  • Functions with the stock intake duct
  • High-flow oiled air filter provides increased filtration surface area
  • Wire-reinforced silicone hose prevents collapse
  • Easy installation can be completed in one hour

At the moment, we do not have plans for E85 specific tunes. Great recommendation though, I will certainly discuss this further with our team.

We are hoping to have these available in around 2 weeks along with our intake-specific tunes.

Absolutely! We will be posting up our plots early next week for the finalized tunes. The gains are quite substantial.

Downpipe! WHERE HAVE I BEEN! lol

Subscribed, between your company and Subiespeed....I'm going to end up broke lol. The combination of products you all are developing look like they will safely add significant power.

Question because I'm a newb, so it appears a downpipe adds significant noise to the equation or should I wait to judge the sound once development is completed?

Seconds to this... I have your CAI on order and I was planning on getting the Perrin exhaust. Is that a combination that you'll be working on?

Yes, we have been working on our prototype for several weeks now. You may end up broke, but at least you will have a quick WRX!

Check out the end of our downpipe video, we include an idle and rev soundclip. We are doing some dyno testing with the downpipe today and we will be capturing a few videos as well.

Our tunes will be specific to the exhaust components we develop. This includes our downpipe options as well as our cat-back exhaust system.

Am I correct in assuming that whichever catback exhaust we have it would have minimal impact on the tune? Also are you going to have any options for the downpipe (Catless/Ceramic Coating)?

I'm guess the company is going to Perrin or Cobb direction where as they have all the brand specific component such as CAI, exhaust, down pipe, and maybe future turbo upgrade too so on and having a tuning device tuned for all their parts combine.

So since I bought mishimoto CAI, i guess I'm with you guys FTW! Ha ha ha

Just wondering is this the first cat back system you guys building? Any prototype or teaser photo you guys have? Quad tip hopefully!

Not entirely true! During testing, we had a vehicle in with a custom cat-back exhaust. We found that this component, combined with our intake, provided AFR's quite a bit leaner than the intake alone. We are recommending a tune when combining a cat-back or downpipe with our intake. We will be developing tunes for all of the products we develop and release.

We have yet to solidify our plans for any downpipe coatings, we should have more details in the very near future.

Our tunes will be specific to the components we develop, in any combined form possible (intake + downpipe, intake alone, downpipe + cat-back, etc.). We will be offering tunes for both 91 and 93 octane and for both the manual and CVT transmission vehicles.

This will be our first cat-back exhaust, we are very excited. We should have some teaser shots of that unit in the coming weeks.

We had our 2015 6 speed on the dyno today for some downpipe testing, I will prepare and post our video on Monday, it sounds fantastic and is making nice power so far!

Absolutely! I am assuming you purchased our intake for the 2015. If so, we have included information regarding available tunes and how to access them in the product packaging. We are anticipating our tune availability to be active within 2 weeks.

So with 91 octane fuel, your intake is not safe to run without a tune. However, with your free tune I'm assuming that would be amended; what AFR's and power levels are you seeing? Have you posted this dyno graph yet?

How are the power figures for the 93 octane tune with the intake? Any dyno charts?

That is correct! We were not comfortable with the AFR's we saw when this intake was installed with 91 octane fuel on the factory tune. Our product/fuel specific tune for this will alleviate these concerns.

At this time we do not have plans to conduct testing for 92 octane fuel. The 91 octane maps should work just fine with this fuel and provide a nice increase in power output.

Dyno plots for our tunes are on the way! We should have a few plots up this week.

So if you purchase ecutek, will it allow you to tune the car yourself, or just upload tunes and datalog?

Is the box for the intake metal?

We are expecting to offer the EcuTek devices in 1-2 weeks. We still have some work to do with the CVT-specific tune. We do not have a solidified date at this time but we should have additional details very soon.

EcuTek will provide you the opportunity to have a custom tune created for your vehicle by an EcuTek Master tuner. Additionally, we will offer free tunes for all of our products.

The intake box is constructed from powder-coated steel.

Thanks for the inquiries!

If I install Cai and wait for cvt availability on ecutek would that be OK or am I risking dmg to engine while driving without tune? Thanks

If the intake is the only mod you're running you'll be fine on the stock tune.
