Congrats OP on the purchase! I also had the opportunity to buy my bugeye completely stock. A few crucial pieces:

a) Our 2.slows are not highway monsters : ) Seeing your OBS pictures off-road is heartening, though, since I'm convinced you aren't a ricer. Also you note you aren't in it for the horsepower when talking about headers. That's good because our platforms take very specific mod paths that make for a pretty expensive HP gain/$ spent ratio.

b) Our 5mt transmissions are weak, weak, weak and do not take to abuse. From 02 to 03 they altered the gear set, specifically made 2nd gear wider. Run your VIN number to find out if your car's transmission code was one of the early 03's, which did not benefit from this change.

c) Clear the up-pipe cat, or buy a new up-pipe and install it. Do a search as to why : )

d) Never get low on oil! This problem compounds in the forced-induction EJ series motors, due to shoddy oil passages that don't take to running low (cylinder 3 specifically)

looks like an awesome platform. Good luck in finals! Keep us updated!

Davis just got his rebuilt at Pure Tunning in Toledo and I'm pretty sure it's all Cosworth under the hood now Yeah, I know of Mark. I couldn't go up and talk to him but I have heard of him. He has a pretty clean peanut eye now. (maybe a hawk eye, not sure)
