Question P1091 code: Tumble motors changed but still getting engine light.

Got a p1091 code and changed both valve motors. Engine light still comming on and I tried disconnecting the battery but still have the warning light. it now has gone into limp mode. Having problems with the tumble valves from day one. I use the car as a safety car for rallies. Under pressure now as the car is booked for a rally next weekend and need to solve this problem. Can anyone please help?

well...first of all...you didnt even tell us what kinda of car you are having issues with

and you didnt say if there were any other codes

and you DID know those tgv's are spring loaded and you have to install the motors properly or they wont work right

and it seems you didnt do much research on this

The car is 01 WRX, no other codes. You may be right with the spring loaded, this has come to mind but could not find any instructions on how to fit them, should the motor be fitted with the spring loaded or unloaded? In other words when the motor is taken out I can hear the valve springing back,do I need to refit the motor with it in that position or does it need to be opened before mounting the motor? If so how is this done?

the motor needs to be attached and rotated to produce the proper pre-load on the shaft

We tried setting the valves up today by rotating 90 degrees, but no luck or improvement. As much as I hate to say it, I think we will have to give in and send it to the main dealer. Disappointing to say the least.

Thanks for taking the time to help, Uncle Scotty. When I find out what is wrong I'll post it here.
