I'm on a 1.5.7 game with Sphax 'cause it looks so damn pretty. I disabled mob griefing (Creepers don't blow stuff up) 'cause I was tired of them destroying my pipes/wires when I didn't torch the place up enough.
I really like Tinker's as well. I haven't gotten into Thaumcraft yet, but really want to. Galacticraft is the one I am working towards. I want to try to get to the moon. My friend and I are playing on a small server, but there may be room for more players. We also have an updated version of Sphax that covers 95% of the mods. The mods/MC/resource pack are 1.6.2.

Tri, I haven't tried Overload (179 mods?!?!?)

Haven't been able to get back on the refreshed world (108.178.37.194) the last few days. The Dynamap is still up, and shows the farm I made to the east of spawn, so I didn't think the IP had changed.
(Using vanilla 1.7.2 MC launcher)
btw- Dynamap still shows the old spawn point and "homes".

As for Technic, I've been trying to educate myself on that as much as possible, but can't find a mod pack like FTB's Unleashed, or BlackBeastie's for 1.6.4.
While I've enjoyed experimenting with the 1.5.2 versions for familiarity, I really prefer the 1.6.4 versions with Thaumcraft 4, as well as other updated/improved mod versions.

It's back up Cave. It looked like something glitched and took it down. As for the old points, I'll work to get those cleared(thought I did)

I have a few more. One of a HUGE pile of TNT that Predwolf was building and the zombie dropper that used to be near tritech's pyramid, plus a few more.

OK this is a super cool little set of mods...Extra Utilities.

I subscribed to DireWolf20's YouTube channel and although it's a bit dry I've learned a lot about different mods.

Also, anyone tried the Hexxit pack? No technology (Industrial Craft, Buildcraft) but tons of monsters and generated buildings and other wild stuff.

I took over a pre-built house, gearing myself up, and am just going to hit the world exploring. I attempted to invade a pirate ship and got my ass kicked.

I find the fancy tech stuff to be much more fun with more people but Hexxit is pretty sweet for solo play.

Mod Spotlight Extra Utilities v0.3.5 - YouTube

I subscribed to DireWolf20's YouTube channel and although it's a bit dry I've learned a lot about different mods.
I started watching all of Direwolf20's series a couple weeks ago that covered any of the 1.5.x / 1.6.x Mod guides and "Let's Play" seasons. I also wanted to learn the differences in some of the Mod versions to help OT/Kink figure out what could be most beneficial if we go to a Technic platform.

I've been playing with a slightly modified FTB "Unleashed" pack, just to get a better feel for more options, but really think the Direwolf pack list is a better choice. At least for a 1.5.x compatible list. I also added Mo' Creatures since I've always wanted to try it, but had always upgraded MC ver. based on other mods.

Oh, did I mention ALL of the 1.5/1.6 related series? I've recently gotten a message from my ISP that I've already exceeded the 100GB data plan this month...

-snip-
I installed the Technic Launcher and poked around, but didn't start a pack. None that I saw were 1.6.x and/or similar to Blackbeaties list posted previously.
I haven't asked Blackbeastie for a link to his pack, but REALLY want to get my hands on the newer mod versions, like Thaumcraft 4. TC 3 just isn't cutting it for me, but I want to at least learn its predecessor's craft/casting in relation to aspects.

I watch Direwolf20s videos too (SEE YA LATER!) and really dig 'em. He has definitely made me more interested in Thaumcraft (golems look very handy).

I used an existing Technic mod pack (forget which one now) and added a handful of different mods to it kinda creating my own one. I tried doing it completely from scratch but failed horribly. It takes a bit of tweaking to get everything right...for example I somehow had chunk loaders disabled and since a quarry has a built in chunk loader my quarries wouldn't work...could build the block & place the block but it wouldn't make the frame with a message about "too many chunk loaders already on server". That took a while to figure out.

I have a "path" of sorts I follow with modded minecraft:
1. Tinker...get that smeltery up and running + stone tools
2. Mine like a fool for gold so I can cast tools (don't muck around with making the other version of casting metal).
3. Make iron + redstone/lapiz tools
4. Mine like a fool for diamonds + other stuff to make a quarry (ignoring obsidian)
5. Get quarry running with sterling engines. Goal is obsidian.
6. Make nether portal for blaze rods
7. Ender chests and ender tanks. Pump lava from nether to ender tank.
8. Magmatic engines & ender chest for quarry
9. More fancy stuff

I've never messed around with automated farms, thaumcraft or...what's that crazy storage system...ME?

I did have an ill fated attempt at making "super coal". Cane > sugar > sugar coal > sugar coke (something along those lines). The coke oven was just horribly slow and I got impatient.

Hexxit is great for just exploring the world. I really dig random generated structures and mobs and that one is filled with it. I die a lot

I'm happy to help with maintaining/working/overseeing/anything on a modded server. I've come to realize I'm horribly non-artistic when it comes to building so tech/magic is what I can do.

Btw, all ya. Would you rather have the server running 1.7.2 or roll to hexxit 1.0.10?(I think it's 1.64)

Fwiw since life has kinda made it hard for me to keep up with my own server, I've added Reciprocity as a second admin for my server. Don't be too rough with him at first

I'm pretty confident that the first mod I install will crash the server
