Default DiMora Launches Neoclassic Automobiles

Quote:
It appears fans of modern classic renditions of old classic cars, which were popular in the 1970s and 1980s, can once again indulge their passion.

DiMora Enterprises in Palm Springs has announced a new Neoclassic Automobiles subsidiary with plans to produce a sportster reminiscent of the Clenet and a Super-Coupe.

Sir Alfred J. DiMora — he got the “Sir” title from Malta not the UK — began his career at Clenet in the 1970s and later went on to take over the company after it went under. He has continued his passion for these unique motorcars to this day.

In the words of the DiMora, the elegant Adina Sportster will blend the design elements and handcrafted workmanship of the DiMora brand with the power and durability of a high-performance General Motors drive train. The Adina is powered by an LS3 engine producing 431 horsepower and standard amenities include Italian burl wood inlaid dash, lamb’s wool carpeting, etched glass and a removable hardtop.

The more striking and sporty Vicci 6.2 Super-Coupe boasts either the LS3 or a supercharged 638-horsepower LS9 engine. Vicci buyers will have the choice between 4- or 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission. The Vicci 6.2 convertible will also be available with an optional removable hardtop. According to DiMora, standard equipment will include a carbon-fiber dashboard, Italian leather seats, fly-by-wire electronics, stereo with engine diagnostics, paddle-shifters, wire wheels, back-up cameras, GPS and more.

In a statement, Sir Alfred J. DiMora says: “We are building everything from the ground up, from our new state-of-the-art chassis to innovative body technology. With our new Alurock composite method of building bodies, our cars will be lighter but stronger than ever before. These limited-production automobiles will be unique, but also serviceable around the world by any GM mechanic tech, making it convenient for our customers.” DiMora continued, “DiMora Neoclassic Automobiles is a continuation of our legacy of building such classic automobiles as the Clenet and the Sceptre.”
In case you’re wondering DiMora Motorcar is still developing the $2 million V16, 1200-HP Natalia SLS 2 sport luxury sedan. No word though on what you might have to fork over for the less expensive Adina or Vicci.

Hopefully, it comes off far better than previous attempts.

Is that one of those Excaliburs? Avanti are you old enough to remember those? Brooks Stevens designed to use Studebaker running gear but ended up with a Chevy drivetrain (not unlike the Avanti itself).

Most of those things designed to look like 1930s cars are abominable. Think those MGTD kit cars on Beetle pans, the "Stutz Blackhawk" that was a converted Grand Prix, that aborted attempt at reviving Packard?

It's not just an American phenomenon. Think Morgan Aero 8 and Wiesmann (which I admit I don't dislike but is an acquired taste).

I'd be really surprised to see someone incorporate 1930s styling cues into a 2010s car that has to meet current safety requirements.

Thought you might.

I should've written "'d be really surprised to see someone successfully incorporate 1930s styling cues into a 2010s car that has to meet current safety requirements."

That first picture reminds me of the Dunham Caballista. I used to frequently see one similar to this, when I was a kid working at MickeyD's

instead of brining back these weird designs how about they bring back classic designs that people actually enjoy?

I don't this it was an "official" copy but a Aston Martin V8 Vantage from the 80s was a great look alike to a 60s mustang. They need to look at cars that people actually like, such as that.
