Default Is my downpipe supposed to look like this?

Ugh. I bought an EBay exhaust for my 95 WRX, and it showed up today. but the bellmouth downpipe is looking a little strange, the top is rotated 10 or 15 degrees from straight. is this how it's supposed to be?

Ah ebay you fickle bitch.

I suggest a quick google image search for wrx downpipes. The flange orientation is all going to be the same regardless of year.

For instance this invidia downpipe should look similar to your ebay downpipe.

A quick tip on ebay exhaust anything. Its all designed to look good cosmetically. Its usually the welds and fitment that are an issue. Unless you've already pulled the stock part or have it laying around ... there is no good way to check until you install it.

If the fitment is good you should still be prepared to reweld everything.

I actually beg to differ. Not all ebay parts are quality, of course, but some of the newer ebay parts I've seen have very solid construction and nice robot TIG welds. Really. I've been blown away by the quality of more recent ebay exhausts.

this is what happens when you buy ebay parts. the fitment and quality from piece to piece can be radically different. sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you get boned. Its part of quality control and the difference between knock-offs and genuine.

Not all ebay stuff is garbage, but its a risk you take! dont be suprised if its not what you expected it to be!

all you can do now, is see if it fits, you dont know till you try!

The great thing about ebay knockoff parts that elevates them from simply being knockoffs to being a proper scam is that most of the ebay stores dont accept returns on installed parts but you never know if the part will fit or properly seal until you try to install it.

I had a full ebay exhaust a long time ago... fitment wasnt the best, the dp hung pretty low,

i had ebay headers, and full TBE all 3".

when i first installed it, it fit decently, and didnt leak. My headers/uppipe was a 1 piece design and there was a flex fitting around the up pipe area.

did a quick search and mine was almost like this "headers", after a couple months the flex part leaked like crazy, when i was taking the headers off.... half of it just fell off while i was still unbolting it. the flex pipe separated from the rest of it, not holding boost at all.

so i just went with a stock ej205 ex mani.

i actually have a vid of my old old car ej20g with said 3" headers/TBE here

Some the Ebay stuff is made oddly. Only way to know it try to install it. If it's like most ebay exhaust stuff, it'll sorta fit.

I had ebay headers, downpipe and catback on my car when I first swapped it. It all sorta fit.

I ended up taking it all off, it was too loud and the sorta fit annoyed me.

Now I have type RA semi-el manifold with grimmspeed crossover and up pipe, bosal divorced shorty downpipe, 02 wrx cat and midpipe and a remus axleback.

It's quiet and a lot better. I learned my lesson, the Ebay stuff mostly works.

Just an update on the downpipe, that is the correct angle for the mouth to sit on. The factory downpipe does go straight back, but later on has a bend. The aftermarket dp ignores the bend, and just comes about 15 degrees off the bellmouth. I agree. Fitment is "alright" for the overall exhaust. But it looks and sounds incredible. Much better than my jdm 3" "fujitsubo" exhaust (if I spelt that right).
