Bridgestone RE-11's

If anyone wants local feedback on RE-11's, feel free to drop me a message. They are awesome!! I put 200 painful miles on those crappy OE Dunlops that come on the STi - they were loud! The RE-11's are smooth, quiet and grip like crazy!!

There's another set of P245/40R18's in town if anyone's in the market.

lol they are excellent aren't they. They were on the BBS' I sold a couple months ago. Very good tires. I would still get star specs though, after having had 2 sets of star specs, a set of RE01R's, a set of RE-11's and a set of KDW's.

That's why I was wondering what he paid for them. I'm pretty set on Z1 Star Specs (favorite tire I've ever had), but damn, they're expensive at about $215 each.

EDIT: Holy cow! They are $283 a piece on Tires.com. For that price, it's Dunlop Star Specs all the way!

Did you read the reviews on tires.com. One guy with a GTO says they are holding up grate(sic) after 30,000 miles. I must be really hard on tires. There is no way a set of tires I own will look great after 30,000 miles. Got 11,000 on my stock rubber and already they are showing the strain.

The RE-11's are pricey, but they are a direct competitive tire to the Sport 600's that are OE for the STi. The difference though is that the Bridgestone is an XL tire, so you can run a higher inflation (51 PSI MAX). The tread width is also different, the specs on both tires say they are the same, but the RE-11 sidewall is perfectly square and protects the rim. The Dunlops didn't even protect the wheel, let alone look too small!!

The Star specs may be a nice tire, but they are directional. The RE-11 and the Sport 600 are asymmetrical so you can cross rotate them. And with the negative camber that these cars have, that's a major advantage. Plus the RE-11 was developed by using a GRB STi as the test vehicle.

Tires are a true example of "you get what you pay for". You want the best, you have to spend the money. But if you take care of them, they can last a long time. Alignment, rotation and inflation = long life.

Plus, those OE Dunlop were junk, I only put 200 miles on them and couldn't wait to take them off.

The SP600's are out of the question, they are terrible. Honestly, they have got to be the worst set of summer tires I've ever encountered. Wet grip sucked, dry grip sucked, turn-in sucked, the RE-11's aren't even in the same league. The RE-11's in my opinion were slightly less grippy than the Star Specs, slightly more responsive and had a slightly stiffer sidewall. I think they lasted longer too. If they didn't cost so much more per set I would consider them again but for the money/grip levels, the Star Specs win hands down.

Yes - the best word to describe the SP600's is crap.

The RE-11's respond better with higher tire pressure. The higher the pressure, the better the grip. They are pricey, but they are nice to drive on daily.

The new S-04's are nice to for someone looking for longer life. Not the same grip, but very quiet.

Don't mean to thread jack, but ken before you buy, let me know what size and brand/model you are looking at, my buddy at work has a hookup, some are dirt cheap, others about the same as other places, I'll have him check some prices for you

Pm me and I'll have him contact you, I don't know what his pricing is he can get, I know on falkens its usually the biggest discount, but sizing has a lot to do with it too, in common sizes its a really huge discount, in bigger sizes 18s, wide sizes, it not as massive as a discount, still pretty good tho, but yeah, for anyone interested pm me, I dont wanna post his number without him knowing lol
