im interested in this cocktail for my 09 too. Definitely go with heavyweight shockproof. lightweight doesn't do much.
uncle scotty my question for you is, why us castrol over redline MTL and/or MT-90, 75w90NS. I remember back in the day when I had my 2005 2.5rs, the cocktail involved all redline products. Here is what I have in mind for sure at this moment. First quarts are definitely going to be Heavyweight Shockproof, Penzoil Syncromesh. Now should the rest be Castrol Hypoy Gear oil? Even Grimmspeed seems to recommend this cocktail(they suggest lightweight shockproof instead of heavyweight for some reason). My heart is with redline products tho ![]() Any input is appreciated. Anyone currently running this Grimmspeed Cocktail? But with heavyweight shockproof instead of lightweight? |

Is there really a noticeable gain by going with this cocktail instead of just straight lightweight shockproof? Seems like a lot of effort to buy all these different kinds and mix them.

No. It is probably the first known "consistently great" transmission fluids. There are others now that are easier listed in the Maintenance FAQ.

Since using the heavyweight in the cocktail was recommended in place of the actually written lightweight, should heavyweight be used in place if just doing that by itself?
