Default Soccer Talk

There are enough of us who like soccer and talk soccer to just make one large thread discussing the games/ leagues/ tournaments/ teams etc. Let's have all the RMIC Soccer talk here.

How about starting out with RSL's great start to the 2012 season?!

1-3 Win over LA and a 2-0 over NYRB last night!

They are looking as good on the road as they are at home. I want to see them beat a couple of the other big teams like Seattle, but I think we should have a good season ahead of us. I just wish the title went on points instead of a good old American tournament/ playoffs that allow crappy teams to pull out wins at the end of the season and win silverware.

As for last night, everything was solid. I sat in Section 34 with all of the hooligans eating my Ekamai Thai (new vendor at Rio Tinto Stadium) and enjoyed every moment. Being a Gooner though, I must say I wanted Henry's amazing bicycle kick to have gone in because we still would have won it, and he is a legend.

Espindola is looking great this season. His shot placement is incredible (or incredibly lucky).

Cheers.

This.

I need to get into RSL more, especially since I'm going to be disconnecting the cable TV. I have never even been to a match.

being a big EPL fan, MLS took a long time to warm up to, but come on, going to a match always beats watching it on tv. Also the skill level is really improving.

Oh I'm sure. It's a ways for me, but I could always take Frontrunner. What seats/tickets have the best value?

All depends on the section. I like mine (section 35) but honestly the stadium is so small that it's hard to have a bad seat

I claim to be a big fan. I took a big step and bought season tickets this year and love my seats. I'm in section 35. Its by far the best section to sit in if you like to stand, cheer, chant and have a good time. This year is going to be awesome.

I love Futbol!! I like watching any type of game but my all time favorite is the European league. I enjoy watching Arsenal, Real Madrid, New Castle, Manchester, Barca, etc. Me and my family actually are starting to set our plans for the next Fifa cup to go watch in Africa, Stoked!!! If any of you would ever like to go to a bar to go watch some games let me know!!

My little brother has been playing soccer since he could walk, now he plays for the Copper Hills soccer team. Last year he tried out for the youth 17 league for Real Salt Lake team, so hopefully when he turns 18 and graduates from high school he will hopefully be able to play for Real Salt lake!! That would be sweet!!!

I am the Branch Manager for the Utah Gooners (arsenal sanctioned support group). So even when supporting the Claret and Cobalt, my blood bleeds North London Red.

I am from Portland, so I do support the NW teams (Portland and Seattle), but I decided that it made more sense to support the local MLS team if I was going to stoop to MLS level at all

And they will probably continue to have a tough time, if that crazy owner of theirs won't give a manager a shot for more than a year. Hopefully Abramovich won't be able to buy his team another title any time soon.

For you guys that have been to Rio Tinto. What is the security like, as far as checking bags/purses goes? How easy is it to sneak some of your own food in? At the risk of sounding like a cheap skate, I can't stand being forced to pay outrageous prices for food, unhealthy food at that.

When I went to a play off game last year they didn't check my bag at all. I know at century link in seattle you can take food in but not liquids.
