fast forward to december 18, 2011..... i purchased some 05 STI BBS wheels and painted them metallic copper. also ordered some 20mm wheel adapters to do the 5x100-5x114.3 conversion.

then installed them... as well as added a WRX scooped hood, and an STI trunk/wing

a few days later, i purchased a brand new set of Megan Track coilovers... ill stand by these coilovers for durability and quality for the price! coming from time attack and road racing, these have kicked butt on many friends cars... so i decided to give em a try myself! have to say i love em so far! (as of 3-17-12)

then installed them and lowered the car a bit... also installed a lip i purchased through evil-bay

decided to do a full STI Interior swap..... the most expensive parts are purchased, except the steering wheel. just need the wheel, carpet, floor mats and a few tidbits to put my 06' STI door cards into my car

heres the front seats...damn near brand new, still smell new...out of an 07'

the rears... came out of a JDM STI, same as 07' STI with the pass-through arm rest (love it!)

the 06' STI door panels (just need the switches, brackets and handle trim)

and last but certainly not least...... my 06' ST cluster (mileage is WAY off... which sucks... might try to trade with someone on here... has 60k on it, need a 124k)

i have everything purchased now for the STI interior (except the steering wheel.. think im gonna buy the Prodrive wheel instead.. just need to locate one)... i even got the blue floor mats.. plan to install everything else (05-07 door panels, carpet, and everything else) this coming wednesday...as well as black out my headlights. also picked up a set of WRX sideskirts... gonna paint them and install them when i find the time.. went to subaru and purchased every tab and clip to install them as well

and, 3 weeks ago, the owner of the complex i work at backed into my car... pushing in the rear quarter a little and destroying the taillight...

then i decided to REALLY lower the subie... the fronts are maxed out now.. so i cant/wont go lower...

and as of right now, she is at the body shop getting the damage fixed.. should have her back tomorrow

well... made some good progress tonight..... i finally got the car back from the body shop a few days ago... turned out great...

i installed the 05-07 STI door cards and STI carpet and floor mats... couldnt be happier with the outcome while the carpet the mats were out, they were thoroughly cleaned and deep clean shampooed... so they look new!

long night in the garage (in the first pic, you can see the repaired corner )

stripped interior

putting the carpet in

all installed and looking good

all from an 05' STI
-6-speed tranny conversion.. tranny, diff, driveshaft, axles, hubs
-full brembo brake conversion, including all sensors and ebrake lines
-subframe and rack & pinion
-forged control arms and rear suspension links
-steering wheel
-side view mirrors
-over fenders
-04-05 tail lights

im sure there are a few more things im forgetting... but thats the jist of it basically, all ill need now is to do the STI motor

Awesome thread. I'd love some more info on the dash swap because I have an 02 but prefer the newer dash. Was is straight plug and play? What all did you need? I did try searching but had no luck. Thanks!

it was technically 100% plug and play.... there wasnt any drilling or cutting needed... just need to swap out brackets and whatnot.. but the ebrake youll need to mess with a bit... add shims to the line to get it to work, and slightly bend the handle to sit correctly... but all in all, only took me about 2 hours from start to finish..youll also need to source an HVAC bezel from a 06-07 wrx TR edition. if interested, i have a second complete set (minus the tr beze, and cd player brackets) out of an 06 STI... it isnt perfect, but ill sell it cheap compared to the average $250 they typically costs.

not bad at all - I've seen these swaps end up failing or just being all for show, but it looks like you're actually pulling it off pretty well!

I would say you probably don't want to drop the car that much without corner balancing and probably changing the suspension geometry, but it's up to you.

Also, change the steering wheel!

thanks... im going to try and make it as authentic as i can... not nescessarily a V7 replica, but a mix/match of V7-V9.. taking my favorite parts of each series

as for the drop... as of right now, its just a daily driver that i dont do anything with.. since its so slow, i have no drive to go canyon carving, or time attack/autocrossing... so the suspension balance and geometry dont matter to me.. as long as the tires dont wear improperly, im good but when i finish the swap, i plan to raise it back up a bit, throw on some meatier tires, and build the suspension correctly! then slowly tweak it to my liking at the track

and the steering wheel... already have that covered i have an 07 STI wheel sitting in my living room just need to swap it over
