Default Advice Needed

Hey guys

So my car is at my friend's body shop right now, waiting for the police report to come out. But my car got brutally battered as you can see in the picture below. It was hit after a pos van ran a red (involved in a police pursuit) and hit me from the left as I was making a left turn. I just wanna make sure that I get my car back with no problems (suspension may be tweaked as well) so am wondering what I can request. Worst case scenario, I pay the $1000 deductible from my own damn pocket if the guy has no insurance which he probably doesn't, assuming the fact that he fled from the police all the way from costa mesa to irvine. Any advice will be appreciated.

Get an estimate from a Subaru dealer and have then do the work. I've done that rather than trust the insurance appraiser and third party shop. If you have a lot of mods, not sure how that works.

My friend had a lot of upgrades on his foxbody when someone t boned him in the rain, the insurance company just asked him for receipts of the upgrades and adjusted the value of the car accordingly.

Get your own shop, not the insurance companies. Make sure they use oem parts. Most insurance companies will not pay for aftermarket parts unless you have it specifically insured for them.

This is why I have underinsured driver/ no insurance coverage.
