Question MTB Ride

Anyone interested in some mountain biking this weekend (Sunday prefered), or perhaps an early morning or evening ride durring the week?

How about Hall Ranch again?

I know I bailed on you guys last time, but this time I'll be there.

Cool

Hall Ranch in not the most diffucult thing I've ridden, but it ALWAYS kicks my ass because of the initial climb. I'd like to go, but you guys will be waiting for me. I'm getting old & slow. Coming back down is a blast, though.

Talking

What the hell, I'm game. Maybe we could head up to the hills and do some of the St. Vrain & sourdough trails. I have a map. Also, I could go up one day during the week and scout the rides. Yes, I know, this a completely selfless act.

If you're talking about the St. Vrain trail (I live like 1/2 a mile from it) off of Overland Road above Jamestown (the road itself is worth the drive!), I can vouch for that being one hell of a cool ride, if a bit short (maybe 2-3 miles one way). If you go the end of the trail and hang a left and climb, there is suppsedly a BMX style track up there with jumps and such. The trail is a zoo during the weekends and like Hall rewards a very early start, 8am-ish. I'm in for a Saturday ride wherever.

I would prefer this Sunday morning, but can do it just about any time on the weekend. Mornings seem better to avoid numerous amounts of people and the heat.

I want to go this weekend for sure. Let's set a time (and place?) to meet.

Hall Ranch is near Boulder, up in Lyons, maybe about 12 miles? Is this Saturday morning (9 am) cool for everyone?

Here's a review and a bit of info on the trail http://www.mtbreview.com/trails/Colorado/HallRanch.html

From Keith for the last ride on the 4th...

Go to Lyons (take 66 west from i-25 or 36 north from Boulder).
-Go west on 66 from Lyons for about 1 or 2 miles.
-Trailhead is on your right.

Well, I just finished pulling off those newfangled deraileurs from my '87 rockhopper (I need a good excuse to be slow- singlespeed seems like a good one), but I am gonna be rallycrossing Saturday.

Unhappy

Well, that was "interesting" to say the least. I never realized how tough this sport really is. I didn't think I could keep up and sure enough I didn't. I doubt I even made it a quarter of the way up before pussing out. Destroying my right knee at the very beginning didn't help any either. Even so I still enjoyed the short time I was there and now have some real motivation to get my ass in shape.

Ian, I really appreciate you and your friends babysitting me for the short time I was there. I know that can really suck. I hope you guys had a blast the rest of the ride!!

I guess I'll be sticking to riding the streets and small trails until I learn to keep my balance better and get in incredible shape. Maybe before winter hits I'll be able to go to Hall Ranch and not puss out.

No problem dude. It was a pretty long ride. We ended up getting back to the car around 12. But coming back was super fun. Technical downhill is shweeeet...cya round
